That makes sense. Anyone know if he knew this buck was around?

I was just over to see my uncle who is mounting my deer and who I found out is also doing this guy’s deer.I was hoping to see the horns in person but my uncle said he gave him back till it’s time to mount. My Uncle said that this guy and another bowhunter knew of this monster buck.

Forsman23Posts: 16November 7, 2006 at 3:07 am #24222I talked to him(Barry Rose)the day he recovered it. I guessed its gross green score at 220-225″. It was taken in the Elmwood area. He was inducted into the Stevens Point Hall of Fame just two days before he shot it. He used to play WR for the Bills, Broncos and CFL. I contacted a guy I used to hunt with that writes for North American Whitetail and other mags and it sounds like he is going to do a few write ups on it.

January 8, 2007 at 4:14 am #28028Anyone know which magazine this story / buck will be in and when?
ThanksJanuary 8, 2007 at 4:14 am #519663Anyone know which magazine this story / buck will be in and when?
ThanksJanuary 12, 2007 at 4:31 am #2821660 day drying period is about over,
any update on the score, and if it went non-typ or typical..
At the MN Deer Classic, the general rule we use is, if there is more than 12 inches of nontyp antler, then we score non typ, if under 12 inches of nontyp, then the deer benefits more as a typical.

Jack..January 18, 2007 at 4:43 am #28381Just heard an up-date this past weekend about the buck. Dotn quote me on this but I believe they said it scored 180 to 190 after the drying time. Not for sure but I will look into it more and hopefully have a true answer for sure soon.

January 18, 2007 at 6:00 pm #28386That seems awfully low unless there are a ton of deductions I am not seeing. That thing has some serious inches.

January 18, 2007 at 8:54 pm #28388I agree. If people are putting it green over 220″, for it to come up 10-20″ short of 200″ sounds odd.

January 19, 2007 at 2:40 am #28396G & Scott it is a 9×7 which is a serious tragedy for an animal like this. If you’d like the originals I could e-mail them to you, the originals are ALOT better and you can see the details up close.
