Holy cow that’s a lot of bone! Aren’t the Amish against modern technology or something to that effect….seems strange he would use a crossbow? Awesome deer, regardless.

Here is the story on this buck from Boone and Crockett Trophy Watch

    History in the Making
    October 14, 2006
This buck, taken this fall by Amish hunter John Schmucker in Adams County, Ohio, looks as if it could be one of the largest ever taken in that state – or anywhere else for that matter. An unofficial green score puts this incredible deer at near 295 as a non-typical, with 36 scorable points.
With racks this complex, determining the typical frame can be a chore. Verification of the scoring procedure, once the 60 days is up, will be crucial to make sure this fantastic rack gets every eighth of an inch he deserves – no more, no less.

And as for the hunter not being dressed like an Amish person my guess is that is not John Schmucker as most Amish people do not want there pictures taken.
