    Welcome aboard.

I know there are lots of deer there and a lot of people use it during the firearms season. I do believe there are a fair amount of bow hunter as well.

Beautiful area and some good trout fishing also.

    Welcome to the site!

Check out the MN DNR website. I’m quite sure a little browsing around will find you a page for the public hunting grounds.

If memory serves me correct, I believe just north of you is the Nerstrand state park. That holds some good deer!

Rochester has some public land but i wouldnt waste any of your time deer hunting in there.

White water is HUGE. There are also a lot of people that gun hunt it, not as many bow hunt it but a lot of people gun hunt it.

If you know how to get to Elba. Go to the gas station and ask keith, or whoever is working, for a map of the place for hunting. If its keith tell him you have never hunted there before and ask him a good place to start out at.

Ive been bowhunting out there a lot this year. havent seen much but what i have seen has been some real dandy bucks.

Welcome to town, hope you can stomach our offical beer. BLD’s With the name that you chose, any chance you’re with the new archery manufacturer coming to town??? Need any field tech’s

As far as whitewater is concerned. I am pretty sure that you can only use climbers or put up your portable every day. I don’t think stands can be paddle locked to the trees down there. Good luck. There are some true hogs shot out of there every year.

I was looking primarily for early or late season hunting. I spend the rifle season up north. I have found a few wma however they are small and always filled with bird hunters.

Thanks for the welcome. I was glad to find a forum similar to the one I used before I moved.

Can you hunt in nerstrand? It is not on dnr list for huntable parks?

One hint for hunting Whitewater if you bring boots and cross the river you will cut down on Squirrel hunters, I have done this a couple times this year and have only ran into a couple people! I hunt it only as a get away on the weekdays or on weekends when I work it is deffinatly not my go to spot, but will do!

Good Luck and Welcome to the site!

There is no special season at Nerstrand State Park this year. Last year I think it was open to muzzleloading.

I hunt up by askov and sandstone. Mostly smaller bucks in the area (too much pressure), however I have access to 500 acres that a buddies dad owns. So, we attempt to manage the deer as well as can be expected.

Bowtech, I hunt 7 miles east of Askov, right off of 22. Are you going to be up there this weekend? Oh, and welcome to IDA!

I won’t be up in askov until opening weekend! I am still getting settled in and starting a new job. May head to the mississipi today for a quick fishing trip.
