October 23, 2006 at 7:32 pm #23041That is a really nice buck. For the past ten days or so it has seemed that the deer in my area were almost completely nocturnal. I havn’t been seeing much at all, let alone anything in bow range. This weekend though I have heard of three nice bucks like your that were either bleated in or coaxed by light rattling. Nice Job. That is one to be proud of.

October 24, 2006 at 9:12 pm #23143Okay here’s the story. I’ve been sitting this funnel for the last week seeing ton’s of little bucks cruzzin from does. Sunday night I saw one small eight out of range at about four oclock. I rattled at him and he came right in. Sweet! Then at about six i decided to bleat using the CAN a few times just for the heck of it. Moments later this nine pointer came trotting up over the hill. He trotted right into twenty yards broadside and stopped behind some brush. He need to take two more steps but intead didn’t take a single one for seven minutes. (o yea i know this becuase we got the whole hunt on film….Sweeeet). Talk about getting the shakes. After seven minutes he doesn’t take a step forward but steps back and then walks directy at the tree. He then turned enough at about 8-10 yards to give me a broadside shot. And the rest is history.

October 24, 2006 at 9:49 pm #23147sweet story. That gets me excited, being a first year deer hunter. I don’t know much about deer behavior and deer hunting but I am interested in learning more. Thats a Real nice buck. I went out in my valley today for an hour and a half with my sony for the heck of it to see if I could “shoot” a deer on film. I put cover up sent on and headed up in the woods. Unfortunately, i didn’t get any shots but saw 2 nice does running through. I had no sooner climbed up to my hiding spot when they ran right past about 20 yards out. They never saw me. I’m sure they were being chased by a buck but the buck never showed. But still, quite a rush
