Just wondering if anybody has any idea this stuff lasts? I’ve had a leafy suit for about six years now and just purchased the base slayers for this year. Is it time to buy a new outer suit?

Copper very good question. Never really thought about it, but every time you dry(recharge) your suit it is suppose to relase all odors so it can absorb more. My thought would be it would be good as long as you recharge it but Im not sure????

The carbon suits do indeed have a limited life span before they just do not work anymore. I have read soo many articles on this and they all state that the carbon can only absorb or filter so much before the carbon becomes useless. The only difference in the articles is how long it takes. But, that also depends on how often you wash, dry, and use the clothing. I believe the average is somewhere around 2 seasons under normal use conditions

I just got to talk to a sales rep yesterday about these suits. Average 30-40 hours per reactivation.
Average life-time is 4-5 years. He said it all depends on how much you have to wash it and how many times you reactivate it. Also another consideration is if you end up using other chemicals on it. That reduces the time a lot. This guy was a rep for Scent-Loc.

I have read and heard that they start heading towards useless not long after they are made. I don’t really know what the answer is; but I do have some questions:

Are the scent-lok type outerwear kept in airtight bags in the store? Or are they out on the shelves being handled and filtering odors for months before they are sold? Do dryers get the charcoal hot enough to recharge?

I do believe they could be an incredible advantage. I just question how long they really work. I guess if they work for you that’s all that matters.

For the money, 2-5 seasons doesn’t sound very good. I have a Scent Blocker leafy suit that I think has taken a crap on me. Been about 3 seasons. My Scent-Loc stuff seems to be holding up better though.

I guess that all depends and a matter of opinion. Taking a typical suit (jacket & pants) now days costs about $310.00. If I arrow one buck because of the Scent Suit, it is definitely a worth while investment for me. Not to mention all the encounters and memories I have had wearing it. I have a 176″ buck on the wall I shot with my bow, that I would have never harvested with out wearing my Scent Blocker / Scent-Lok clothes.

$310 is also a lot cheaper to pay for a buck of a lifetime compared to $5,000 to $10,000 where someone else does all the hard work scouting and hanging stands.
