I need new arrows. I had one shatter on me last night when I let the string go. Not only cost me a deer but scared the bajeepers out of me as well. I had shot several deer over the years with the same arrow just cleaned them up and installed new blades. I must have missed a crack on this one. For years I have been using these arrows (Beman Hunters 50/70). Today I am going to buy new arrows. What do you guy’s think of what is out there?

You are one brave guy. I would never reuse a carbon arrow that penetrated something and could have been damaged. I have heard of people being hurt by exploding arrows.(old wives tale, I don’t know never experienced it) Also it is really hard on the bow. You are basically dry firing it. Make sure you check your limbs to see if there is any damage there. I shoot PSE arrows and I have had no problems. Everyone has there favorite. Maybe take a trip to your local archery shop and ask a few questions. They will be glad to help you and they may even let you shoot some to see what you like.

Carbon Express Maximas or Carbon Express Terminator Selects 4560’s.

I agree with previous post, after I hit a deer with an arrow that arrow is done, retired, period. It is not worth losing a deer or hurting myself over $10.00. Aluminum might be a different story, but defintiely not with carbons. Just my $.02

I hope you are ok and it was not a big buck that you missed out on.

Carbon Express Maximas, I just changed to these after using the CX’s and Selects. They are awesome arrows and aren’t so bad on the pocket book either.

I guess I’m like everyone else I don’t care what kind of an arrow…after an impact shot let it be a tree, deer or anything hard the arrow is done! PERIOD…you are taking you life in your own hands. I have an article I’ll have to try and find about a person 2 years ago in Michigan that had a carbon explode on him sending a piece of the arrow into his chest killing him. Although rare very possible.

I SHOOT MAXXIMAS AND ALSO EASTON AXIS XT

WITH MY BOWTECH BLACKHAWK AT AT 70LBS, I SHOOT 301 FPS WITH THE MAXXIMAS AND 278 FPS WITH THE EASTON AXIS XT , BOTH WITH 100 GRAIN SLICK TRICK BROADHEADS.

BOWHUNTER SAFETY TIP:(NEVER REUSE A CARBON ARROW THAT HAS BEEN SHOT THROUGH AN ANIMAL) IS YOUR HAND AND ARM WORTH $10.00 IT COST YOU FOR ONE ARROW?

I remember a story about a guy, that had a carbon shatter at release, and the thing buried in his bow forearm, and he dam near bled to death. I know I wouldn’t want one exploding 3 inches from my arm…

Thanks guy’s I have never heard this before. I’ve been using the these arrows for years and have probably shot 20/30 deer with them. I inspect them carefully after each one (clearly not good enough). I want to make sure I understand clearly. You guy’s are saying unless you are shooting at anything other than a soft target you would never reshoot a carbon arrow correct? If you shoot more than one arrow at a target and click them together not a dirrect hit you don’t shoot them again either?

Backlash. I shoot my arrows that I shoot at the target, and yes, they do make contact sometimes in the target. Just be sure to inspect them after every shot. This only takes a couple seconds, I just run my fingers up and down them, to check for any inconsistencies. I will not shoot an arrow, that I have shot at a deer already, again. I have never had a complete pass through, all the deer I have arrowed, had the arrow stuck in them when they bolted, and they fell out. I am guessing the arrow came out because it hit something, a tree maybe, and I just do not want to chance there being something wrong with the arrow that I cannot see or feel. Thats just what I do.

I don’t get to excited if they hit each other during target practice. I also inspect my arrows by feel and visually before each shot. What I was talking about is an impact shot. If you get to see an arrow when it hit an object(slow motion) you can see the stress/flex and shock that goes into that arrow. These arrows may/can be fine after an impact shot, but I’m not taking that chance of putting that stress on an arrow and shooting it again. I’ve talked/emailed with reps that produce Carbon Express arrows they also say they should be fine, but suggest not using them again.
