Is this a good thing? Every time I went to Ripley it was an exercise in agony. Then again, I was always there with the army. Bears in the chow line, bears in my humvee, bears everywhere. Watched a battallion XO smack a big sow on the rump with a radio antenna once to try and chase her away. Idiot was lucky he didn’t get mauled. But really, is the hunting good at Ripley? You’ve piqued my curiosity.

August 30, 2006 at 12:29 pm #14332Sean, theres alot of deer in there, and some bruisers at that. I used to spend reserve weekends at Ripley too, back in the late 80’s and early 90’s, but I never seen any bears, but a ton of deer.

August 31, 2006 at 2:09 am #19779Hey I got in too. This is my first time at ripley. Any good advise for a rookie? I will be going on the first week-end. Where do you start in the jungle?

September 7, 2006 at 1:18 pm #20180I’ve seen some monster whitetails there during our “spring” shoots. How can they call it a spring shoot when snow is up to your ????
I’m told it’s a bit chaotic hunting there though. However, every year there are a bunch of dandy deer shot.

How long do you give the deer you shoot when your there? Do you have to worry about someone else shooting it or claiming it?September 9, 2006 at 2:59 am #476792Big G
