Went and checked out a new spot this late afternoon that i’ve thought about hunting for the last few years because i use to run trotlines along this stretch of water and seen bigger older does and i figured that the older bucks would be around too. Drove around looking for old rubbs on trees and seen a meadow that was about 2 acres across from heavy deep timber with quite a few small and big bushes in it and across the road the 3″ to 5′ trees were heavily rubbed from a nice buck from last year. By the depth of the rubbs he was real intent on telling the other bucks that he was around and was working them for quite awhile. Talked to guy who told me about this area in perticular that is a squirell hunter and he says no one ever hunts this place during squirell or bow season. Says it hunted during shotgun but hes seen this buck again this summer a few times and hes still got a nice 12 point rack with nice mass in the tines and mainbeam so things are looking good. Oct. is just around the corner for the opener and im getting anxious.
