    What’s New in 2006
No October Antlerless Hunt — The October “Zone-T” hunt will not take place this year in Herd Control (Zone-T) or Earn-A-Buck (EAB) units. As part of a trial season structure, there will be no October 4-day Antlerless Only Deer Hunt.

    • December 7–10 Antlerless Only Deer Hunt — There will be an antlerless only hunt held in all units statewide (including those units north of Hwy. 8) except state park units and non-quota units.

No early season zone-t??? That kinda of stinks. I kind of enjoyed getting out and filling some doe tags early in the year. I know it also gave people the opportunity to fill their doe tag for EAB.

Not sure I understand not having the early season since I thought we were supposed to be reducing the herd??

    What’s everyone think?

I was also a little disappointed to see that change. It did affect my bow hunting, but all it meant was I had to harvest does at that time, which I do anyway. It was nice to go out in October and use the rifle to get it warmed up for the regular gun season. They did however give us plenty of antlerless tags this year and at a reduced price

Where I hunt we are sometimes in the T zone and sometimes not.

Sucks being on the border. Across the road is in the T-zone.

A lot of the hunters were complaining at the meetings about the T-zone screwing up there tradition 9-day season and driving the big bucks nocturnal. I thought is was a great way to scout. If they do not get the doe harvest that they want, they claim that they will return to the early season.

Actually I’m happy they moved it. T-Zone was always during the start of the rut…I recall one year hunting the T-Zone and seeing nothing but bucks the first day. It just seemed to mess up the rest of the bow season and rut. My .02 cents

maybe we can have a normal season without screwing up the bow hunt and the rut!this doesn’t hurt my feelings aspecially seeing as it’s not earn a buck this year!

I’m actually all for the change. As many know I am an avid bow hunter and spend a lot of time in the tree during the fall. I know we are a management zone that is sometimes a T-Zone and sometimes not. I do know we get our fair share of deer with or without the T-Zone hunt.

This is what I’ve observed where I hunt with the T-Zone hunt. I might remind you I hunt up off of Hwy 8 in Price County. Deer, bucks and does, become more nocturnal…it is bad enough where I am they are there at dusk regularly. I’ve also noticed that where we hunt when there was a T-Zone several large bucks were “accidently” shot.

I know a lot of people say that I get all the time in the world to bow hunt so what is 4 days…which is true. It just usually happens the best hunting is usually at the start of the T-Zone hunt or just after. I don’t start hunting until October 1st….Just my opinion though. I think “we” will do just fine we take our share of antlerless deer during the 9 day season…
