I’ve got an oppurtunity to hunt on a small lease(200 acres) in the Durand area. I’ve seen some nice deer pics from this area this fall. Just wondering if this a decent area overall or should I save my dollars and look elsewhere?? The buddy who wants to split with me was over this weekend scouting and archery hunting. He saw a monster 5×5 and small, but respectable 8. He is very pumped.
I’m curious what others think of this area??
I might do it Kooty if the pictures and posts are any indication from that area. It sounds to me like theres a few nice shooters there.

Durand area has many good areas for huge bucks! Chippewa River bottoms, bluff country, much agriculture acreage…. all the ingredeints for some big deer!

Not sure exactly Zimmy. He said the road leading into the place is private and the bean and corn fields are surrounded by large bluffs. Sounds like the making for a good hunt. The only issue is it’s a night hunt only. No good access to the ambush points without disturbing the feeding fields. I’m going to drive over this winter sometime and check it out.

Didn’t someone just post pictures of a giant buck taken around Durand? Steve Plantz maybe? Could be wrong ,but almost positive!

I’ve lived in the “Durand” area all my life. There are some awesome deer taken every year from here. It is one of the biggest takers of Pope and Young and Boone and Crockett deer. There are several farms just south of town that lease their land to hunters. There are plenty of opportunities to take some nice deer. Kooty when you find out where you are gonna be hunting let me know. I can tell you for sure if it is a good area or not. I have to say in most places you are looking at 150-170 class bucks.

Kooty, I am very familiar with the area as well,if krisko is unfamiliar with the farm/neighbors your looking at I may be able to help as well. My knowledge is more towards maxville and canton townships as far as deer populations, big bucks,qdm, etc. Good luck and hope you and your buddy do well if you get it. Oh boy krisko, another mudduck coming our way
