    John,
All you can say to that lady deer is: Nice Rack.

If it was MN and the hunter didn’t have a doe tag, he would be cited for taking doe w/o tag. bummer,
good thing it was in IA.

Is this true? It doesn’t even seem possible to require a hunter to check for “berries” before pulling the trigger. Is it?

the rule book clearly states a DEER not a BUCK with over 3″ of antler is considered a buck. The rule makes no mention of checking for “berries”. that is why a buck with under 3″ of antler is considered a doe.

Now that makes sense. The whole idea of getting a ticket for shooting a doe with a world class rack without a doe license just didn’t seem to make any sense to me.

But then we do live in MN… so I had to ask… lol

    Thanks guys.

Yep, it is antler or antlerless hunting in MN. A few years back, my buddy shot a doe that had a small rack on it……..It was quite the “freak” for lack of better terms…….

The only “world class rack ” that I saw this year was at the bar after dark!
