What kind of arrows do you shooters prefer? Are there name brands to stay away from?

I’m throwing my hat back into the archery scene. I’m educating myself on all the new products. I’m looking for user reviews. Thanks!

Aluminum or carbon? For Aluminum Easton XX78, but who shoots those things anymore I prefer carbon and I shoot Carbon Impact. Of course the weight is going to depend on your set up. Carbon Express are also decent. LAX Archery has both of these for you to check out Welcome back to bowhunting

Osage Orange Bamboo backed self bow, shooting Port Orford Cedar Shafts with 145 grain Magnus Snuffers. Used a compound for 10 years but nothing is more exciting then hunting off the ground with traditional bows and arrows.

I like EASTON AXIS carbon with 4″ veins. I shoot alot and noticed they seem to be one of the most accurate/forgiving and long lasting arrowshafts I have shot. Of couse the accuracy comes for a properly set up bow. And they are long lasting as long as they hit the target. Goodluck finding the right Archery equiptment for your target/hunting needs. Jeff

easton axis are the cheap way to go i went that way this year, but you get what you pay for had 4 shafts break on me this year, good thing i bought 12 instead of 6, i am going to acc’s you get what you pay for basically, and then for broadheads rocky mountain revolution expandables, they don’t open up from the front, as the tip goes in it goes in a quarter of an inch and then the inch and 5/8 cutters rip a serious hole in that deer, i have shot through two shoulder blades with them this year.

Blue, I like the Carbon Express Terminator Selects ( I think the shafts are +-.003″ and quoted as being the Best of the Best”). I shoot the 4560. I shoot 4″ vanes. I tried the NAPA Quick Spin vanes this year, but I’m not sold on them yet . For the broad heads, I have been shooting STEEL FORCE the last few years in 100 grain and I’m very impressed on how they fly and also the damage they do . It looks like a traditional 2 blade, but it has some kickers on them that makes it a 4 blade. The 2 biggest bucks of my life I have shot with this set up an my Matthews Legacy. Their combined distance in travel after the shot doesn’t reach 90 yards. Lets just say it hits like a Mack truck and cuts stuff up like your local butcher !

Welcome back to such a great sport BLUE . Now you just need to get the Little Mrs. set up Like I walys tell my little Mrs., “You never said a little qaulity time couldn’t be spent chasing monster bucks together.”

Your right they have exploded on me. My hunting practice I do in the woods up and down hill 10-50 yards, anyways I clipped a tree limb and the arrow deflecked missing my 3d delta bear. The arrow ended up hitting a little more brush and hit a log lying behind my target. The arrow was in 5 different little chunks from 10 – 30 yards behind my target. Carbon are decent as lonk as they hit the mark.

I shoot a Easton Carbon Evolution 340, i have now shot these for five years. i have never had a problem with them. I shot 4″ feathers on them, i personally like the feathers more than vanes, personal choice. I shoot 100 grain Thunderhead broadheads. I really like this setup. my .02

I’m going to try the Easton Axis this year after hearing many good reports. I went w/ the Carbon Express Maximas this past season and didn’t like them at all. I went through a dozen in about 3 months. Any contact when shooting into a target would crack the shaft right at the nock. I’ve also heard great things about the Grim Reaper mechanicals, I’m in the process of testing them on some late season does. Good luck setting up you new rig…

Goldtip XT Hunter with 2″ Blazer veins and armed with 100 grain Rocket Hammerhead 4 blade with a 2″ cut (exit hole looks like you shot it with a 12 guage). I just tried the Blazers this year and love them. I use to tear a vein almost everytime I shot until I replaced them, the rest of the year I never tore a one! Has anyone else tried the Blazers?

hey, I forgot to mention the Blazers… I had the same issue w/ slicing vanes until I switched to the Blazers. They do a great job stabilizing broadheads as well…

I shoot the Easton XX75’s. This next year I’m going to the Carbon Express Terminator Selects. I am out of arrows and it is time to change. My fiance has them and they ROCK!
