I got the email forwarded from Jeff Wallace , a freind and Muskie guide here in WI . The e-mail started in N. Carolina , and the guy said he was walking to his stand in the aftrernoon , crossing a bean field , and the buck stood up in front of him , and started walking towards him. I’d say that was a good move getting that out of the gene pool! The explanation was ” Deer Warts” , not all that uncomon- varies in severaty, and has been reported up north as well . (You should see the rest of the photos) Purtey nasty! Cory

I have seen warts like this on deer before, but never so many or so big. The biggest that I have seen are about the size of a silver dollar. That is indeed weird. I would like to know more about these “warts”.

In summary, cutaneous fibromas are merely skin blemishes of white-tailed deer. They are of no significance to the health of the deer population

If I show the wife that picture, we won’t have to worry about processing our 3 deer as I won’t be able to eat it all myself. That is about the most disgusting thing I’ve ever seen. I’ve seen small little warts on deer in WI but I’d give up deer hunting if something like that one walked by. ahh yuk !

I was told that you should just cut out the “warts” as you would the Walleye cheeks and simmer them in butter… and of course serve them to your buddies.
