I might just take you up on that. Are you a lefty also?

    YEP!

That’s awesome. I was once told by a fellow lefty, that left-handed people sit in the right hand of God.

The shop offering the $100.00 disc. was La Crosse Archery in La Crosse Wi.

I’m also a lefty also. I’m a right handed person with a left dominant eye…. and that adds up to learning how to shoot left handed. But it didn’t take long to get the hang of it either! Just one summer!

I’m mostly ambidextrous. I shoot lefty(pistol both hands), golf righty, bat both sides of the plate, eat lefty. Sort of a freak of nature….

I am also very interested in a new Bow. Matthews was my first choice, but I am wondering if the extra $$’s are worth it? What do you get in a Matthews that a PSE or Bow Tech cannot give you?

basically a really good warrenty a really good brand name and about the best bows on the market other than that idk. But that right there was enough to get me to buy a mathews not to mention all the tournament wins that mathews has under there name idk i love there bows and i compared them to bowtech and hoyt!

It does not take much of bow to kill a deer. Take your bow to a reputable shop, see how much a new string and or cables cost and go from there. Remember that “keepin up with the Jones’ is not always necessary.

I shoot a Mathews Legacy, before that a Mathews MQ1, before that a Mathews Zmax. My only complaint is when you don’t think it is possible they come up with something better!

I really like Matthews. They are one of the best out there. I’ve had them for the past few years and don’t plan on changing unless they make me change. I also really like Parker bows. If you want a quality bow for a little less money try them out. Also Renegade bows are awesome beast killers too…Just ask Uncle Ted. I think we had this thread before kind of. You should try to find it…there are a lot of quality bows out there and it is all about preference. What you need to do is get to an archery place and try all of them out you can and see what YOU like.

i shoot a hoyt v-tech. i shot the matthews switchback before settling on hoyt. they both are fast, quiet and forgiving as scott and lip already said. i went with the hoyt, because i like the guys at mike’s archery center, better than the guys at archery country here in st cloud. you wouldn’t go wrong with either.

I shot the Hoyt V-tec, top of the line PSE (don’t remember the name), a Browning (ick) and the Mathews Switchback. All of them were incredible compared to my 10 year old PSE. The Switchback was hands down the smoothest, fastest and easiest handling to me. They are a lot of money for a young hunter or one who only hunts infrequently.

In my opinion, if you are an avid bowhunter or target shooter, then buy the Mathews. If you bowhunt or shoot 5-10 times a year; buy an inexpensive ($300-$400) bow and be happy with it. Any bow on the market will shoot well and kill deer.

Blue-Or anyone for that matter. If you get down to LaCrosse Archery again. See if they still carry Diamond bows. Seriously take a look at them and make sure to shoot one. At the time I bought mine I was trying to decide between the Diamond Machete and the Legacy. I went with the Diamond. I have owned Mathews as well. But, I fell in love with the feel of the Diamond over the Mathews. Similar speeds, just as quiet, and both shot great, but it was all in the feel. Just a suggestion

If you really want a challenge try one of these. Started out bowhunting with one of these and then kinda got away from it. Now I found myself wanting to get back to basics.

I have kicked the idea around about trying the traditional bowhunting. But, I am not sure how they would work in a stand or in my blind Definitely takes more time and skill to harvest a deer or anything with a recurve or longbow

This is a 65 inch longbow, 50 lbs @30″ Hand made by rudder bows. Are there any other traditional bowhunters out there?

I got this in the fall and have been trying it out in all kind of situations. Tree stands, blinds etc. It handles quite well in the tree stand. Recurves are about the size of the new bows so I don’t see a problem with them in a blind or stand.
