Here is a group that my buddy was in from opening weekend in ND. 5 out of the 7 filled their tags. My buddy is still looking for the right one and will be back at it Thursday. Not a bad bunch of bucks. 3 of them are 130 or better with the one 5×5 pushing the 150″ mark.

No reports of anyone downing the 3 big boys I was chasing the other week with my bow. I will be back up there next weekend. There was a 135″ 5×5 (10 point) deer shot at my buddies farm opening evening. He reported not much happening around the farms we hunt Although a 180″ plus deer was found dead on the adjacent farm from my buddies that was a 9×6 (15 point) that appears to have been dead for awhile? I should have more details and perhaps pics soon on this deer ! What a waste I will be one pissed dude if this was poached

    Where do your cousins farm

Primarily from SD (Rosholt) up to Fargo, along the river. The majority of the land lays around Fairmont. They run about 20,000 to 25,000 acres.

I haven’t pursued them much for hunting up there, because primarily the majority of their land is tilled. That is my perception anyways, because their fields run from anywheres from 1 mile to 4 miles in length…… I’m sure some of their land has woodlots and creek valleys, but the majority of the land out there is FLAT!!!!!

My uncle still deer hunts around the Rosholt area, but he is a meat hunter and just shoots does.

You want me to make some phone calls??? I haven’t been out to see them for a few years now and I should make a road trip. My uncle was just in town and we just talked fishing Lake Traverse and Oahe.

By the way, Traverse is giving up some monster crappies and sunnies right now!!!!

Gary, the border of Mn and ND has a lot of River Bottom / Primetime buck areas. Not all that familair with those areas exactly, but I know from Whapeton all the way up to Grand Forks has some unbelievable Deer hunting along the Red River and Tribs. Is your cousin a Sugar Beet Farmer?? Another thing that is good in that strech is Geese. Especially Early Season there is a lot of locals. I know that you are having some problems with land issues, etc. with the sprawling Metropolis. This might be what you need. Don’t underestimate that flat land. Those Shelter Belts can be loaded with deer and Monster Bucks. I would seriously check it out. If you need some help I could lend you a hand

    Let’ go Rob!!!

Let’s plan it for next year. I’m sure in 20,000 plus acres, we can find atleast one or two spots to hunt.

My cousin has a helicopter that he crusies his fields in, we can hop in that for some scouting………

Maybe this is what I need to get my “mojo” back!!!!

Well, I was up helping a buddy fill his ND Rifle Tag and I had a experience I will never forget and will now apply to ND for a rifle tag also as aI have been invited back to the land where the group of bucks in this post were taken. I was up there in ND this weekend being the bird dog for a friend. Lets just say that indeed ther eis some brusiers in the picture above, but what I saw Satuday was unreal. I saw 7 bucks that are int eh catagory of the biggest in the pic or better, while bird dogging Saturday. Here is the kicker to it all. All these bucks were taken on Public Land or non posted land, along with the 7 giants I saw this weekend

Is it the 06 rifle season yet

I will post a picutre of Rick ad his 135 class 5×6 that he settled for at the end of a long day Saturday. With a few blown chances on some 150-160 class deer Saturday and 2 – 170 class bucks last weekend I know Rick was still happy with his buck

The only word I have to explain what I saw this last weekend is: UNBELIEVABLE
