We had one of those openers that didn’t last long. From 7:05-7:15 AM Saturday morning 5 of the 7 hunters in our parties Buck licenses were filled.
Bob started it off with a spike at 7:05. I shot my first Buck, a decent 10 pointer at 7:10, my Brother Dan shot a fork at 7:11, his son was behind me on a ridge and shot a spike at 7:12 and 3 minutes later at 7:15 I shot a second Buck coming through, a spike. We had Fast and furious action for 10 minutes. The phrase of the morning was “now the work begins”. We had a group of new hunters in the woods we hunt so we were in 30 minutes earlier than normal and it paid off this year. The public land we hunt has been good to us over the years.
Sunday we processed 2 Deer and tomorrow we’ll be back up to finish cutting and making sausage. Gotta love that Italian Sausage!!!
Were going to stuff a bunch of it fore grilling on the lake this winter.
Bob and I were talking smart saturday afternoon, we might be able to squeeze in the November full moon Bite on Mille Lacs.
