The only stitch of clothing I put on at the house that stays on during my hunt is my undies which are also scent free.

    Ya Right

    Maybe skid free!

If I was seeing those huge bucks, mine would be FULL.

Thanks for the report Rob. That gets a guy excited reading that!! I can imagine how pumped you are to get back

As for Scent Protection, I am not a big believer in it. I, like you, pick my stands based on the wind. I do a lot to eliminate my scent but no matter what we do we still have to breath in the stand. A persons breath will give you up long before your body scent.

I for one do not wear Scent Lock for this reason. I take a lot of precautions with my clothes, etc. I hunt from very high stands but, it still comes down to wind. It is not possible to be scent free, no matter what you wear. Human skin breaths as does the human body and I have not seen a way to eliminate either yet that I am sold on.

If a person is using Carbon Wear with the understanding that is helps reduce some scent, I agree with that. If they go out thinking they are now elimnating their scent, they are sadly mistaken. That is my 2 scents (Get it…scents)

Scott, I agree with you to a point. But, there are ways to reduce the scent your breathe emits. Baking Soda, is one, there is also gum that I have found to be very effective, and then the last step is carbon face masks to give you that little added protection. Does doing all this eliminate your scent 100%. No probably not, but it does do it enough (if done correctly) where I constantly have Deer come down wind of me with no clue or care in the world. To the point where I have gone whole seasons with out beig detected in stand. Last year in particular and let me tell you, I logged a boat load of hours in stand last year.

I agree with you you must hunt the wind right, but we all know those deer do not always come in as planned . Doing the above scent control steps, increases my odds greatly of putting Mr. Big on the ground . I’m all for that. Is it 100% fool proof??? Defintiely not, but I rather take my chances with strict Scent control techniques. As for with out a questiuon, this has increased my ability to “get close” to all deer and keep them unaware of prescence in the stand but also to and from

Rob, I agree, as I said earlier. Doing whatever a person believes helps reduce scent is a good thing. I certainly appreciate your experiences. The Buck I killed last weekend came in straight down wind and passed within 10 yards (I hate SE winds by the way). Like I said, I do a lot to eliminate my scent, I just don’t use carbon suits. I am aware of all the products out there. But, until we find a way to stop exhailing Carbon Dioxide, which has a carrying capacity for water vapor greater then air, because of the temperature of our breath, we may have to rethink what deer are really picking up when they scent us.

Shoot me an email sometime Rob, I have an interesting tidbit for you. [email protected]

I had two reports of bucks standing in the middle of the road last night. That is a good sign
