Anyone here remember a huge (208 grosspoints) buck shot last year in Whitewater (Trout Valley ) area.It was pictured in Mn. Outdoor News with some hunter that didn’t shoot it but it listed Mario ? as the shooter. Lots of rumours about the legality of it last year, then it got quite and I wondered what ever became of it. Anyone have a clue?????

Don’t know what happened other than rumors, which was the guy that shot the deer was an illegal immigrant, again that was rumor.
I saw the rack personally, as my taxidermist did the mount.

Don’t have my own taxidermist. I guess I didn’t word that right……….The guy that does all my work, did this mount. I’ll probably look him up this weekend and see if he knows what the whole story is.

October 27, 2005 at 5:22 am #11077Have you guys ever noticed that everytime someone takes a monster deer there are always rumors about how it was illegally taken? I think us hunters might just be a jealous bunch. LOL. Know what I mean?

November 10, 2005 at 6:00 pm #11769You’re right in general but there are alot of strange circumstances involving this particuler situation.Even the Olmsted county CO didn’t want to elaborate on the legality of this person.Because he said Immigrations would have to get involved, because he wouldn’t.

November 10, 2005 at 6:54 pm #11781Here is the “rumor” guys. I don’t know this is fact or not, for I have not read anything from the government public records to prove fact or fiction.
Anyways,
the rumor was that the guy who shot it, was an illegal immigrant. He tagged the deer, but didn’t pose for any pics. Since this deer was quite large and a potential state record, he couldn’t hide from the publicity. It was then, that it was discovered he was an illegal immigrant and deported from the country.Where the buck is today, is unknown. However I would assume that the DNR has it and will not divulge on the story, for the case is not yet closed.
