Why in the would they schedule a T-zone hunt right at the beginning of the rut???? They should have had it last weekend. I wonder how many guys will encounter Mr. Mossyhorns while T-Zone hunting and only being able to shot Miss Doe!

I may go with the bow… blaze orange an all! Remember guys… no bucks at all this weekend in Wisconsin…. even bowhunting.

Good luck Slop. I got 6 boxes of ’06 ammo when my gramps passed away. If I can shoot two or three does at 12 bucks a tag, thats a heck of a lot cheaper to fill the freezer than beef.

You can still kill a buck in Wisconsin if you are not in a Zone T unit with your bow.

Could you guys who hunt in WI explain what the T zone is, does this mean no one in WI can shoot a buck in the whole state?

Areas with high consentration of deer are designated as T zones. Only antlerless deer may be shot in those zones whether it be with a bow or a gun. The whole state is not a T zone just certain mgt units. So you may still bowhunt in areas that are not T zone and shoot a buck. This is my understanding of the rules anyway. Everyone should read the rules because I may interpret them differently than everyone else.

Yes, you can… My hunting unit (60a) is a t-zone this year. It’s the first time in awhile so I’m a little edgy about it.
If you aren’t in a T-Zone unit or CWD unit you can hunt like a normal season. Good luck!

Like I replied to the other guy, Steve. Just certain units that the DNR believes has an overpopulation of does… They have what’s called a T-Zone special hunt, where only does can be harvested with a gun, muzzleloader or bow. It’s like a regular season, with wearing blaze orange while hunting. It starts this Thursday and goes to till Sunday. If you want to know more, Steve. Here is the Wisconsin Deer Hunting regulation’s manual. The T-Zone hunt regulations is on page 22. The map on where the T-Zones are located …are on Pages 36 and 37. And on page 41 is where my unit’s season (60a) hunting regulations is also. 2005 Wisconsin Deer Hunting Regulations

The zone “T” hunt is for gun hunting does only in designated areas, you can still shoot bucks during regular gun season and as someone stated before which I believe is correct, you can take a buck with bow if you are not in a zone “T” unit. I myself will be taking at least one of my nephews out for the youth hunt this Saturday, for those who dont know about this it is statewide zone “T” or not youths age 12-16 can take does only on this coming saturday and I believe if they got their hunters safety cert within the past year that is good for a doe tag in place of a hunters choice, read up on it in the hunting regs book if you want to know more.

I’ll be out this weekend as well…hopefully Slop, Deuce and I will run into a herd of doe-skis.

I can already taste the tenderloins.
