Thursday will be my first day out!! I am pretty pumped. I am not buck hunting this year for say. I need to cull the herd. I plan to shoot a lot of does this year and here in Illinois bow tags are unlimited and over the counter. Only restriction is you can only take two bucks per year, all seasons combined. Fair if you ask me. Should not be a problem. Other years I always waited until I had taken my buck, because I did not want to disturb the timber by dragging deer out. I always like to survey the herd and will have usually seen the buck I kill several times before I put it to him. Not to say that I have never taken a wandering buck that appears during the rut. I have. Got a nice one on my wall that I shot the first time I saw him. Anyways, good hunting everyone, be safe, and let’s all get ’em!

    Bucky,
I hear ya!man was it windy,I got down about 9:30. It was so windy I had to hang on at times.I had two does come by on RED ALERT.Man they were spooked out all the wind and all the movement just wasnt sitting well with them. They were about 30 yrds off in some brush so no shot but it was still nice to out in a cool morning instead of sweating it out like the first few weeks so far.Sunday I am back at it.Man its going to be a long couple of days.

Hey Guys, the talk down this way is the deer don’t move or move very little at all with wind over 10 to 12 miles an hour. When i’ve been in the stand and the wind comes up i usually don’t see any movement at all, or very little. This article i read said that the deers sense of hearing is the most important followed by the sense of smell that they can’t use eigther. It said they lay low until they can use these senses more, it seems to be right.
