Here’s another doe for our team, Steve. I harvested her this weekend up in the Sheldon, Wisconsin area while hunting with my brother-in-laws family.

I’m headin back up after work Wednesday for four more days on gun hunting. Still have another doe tag and buck tag to fill. There’s a big boy up there I need another crack at! Seen him both days… Saturday with a doe.. Sunday sneakin out of the swamp. Now if I could just get him to stop long enough???

I finally have a doe for our team I also shot a fawn, but those don’t count Anyway here is the story on the doe. My buddies and I have been hunting Fort McCoy this year for gun season. The area has many deer, but most are undersized and a ton of fawns. We decided to give it one more shot today to try and fill my last bonus tag and hopefully see a buck to fill my buddies tag. We sat in the morning with no luck. On the way out we decided to hunt a ridge with a few fingers coming off that is fairly thick with a lot of downed trees. Right away when we got to the top of the ridge there were fresh tracks in the new snow. I thought to myself this is going to be the spot. We were basically still hunting this spot. After walking a ways, I got on a fresh track and decided to slowly follow it. After walking no more than 50 yards, a plump yearling jumps up in front of me in the blowdowns. No shot was offered and it ran down the hill. I slowly worked my way to where it jumped up and stood there for a few minutes. Down below me in the thick stuff, I noticed movement. The big doe had here neck straight up and ears pointed forward in full alert. She never looked in my direction so I just waited until she made the next move. She cautiously walked forward and stopped in a pretty small opening. I put the crosshairs right behind the shoulder and squeezed the trigger. She jumped up and did the mule kick and headed down the hill in a hurry. She no sooner got out of site and I heard her crash into some trees. Right behind her was another nice doe, but my tags were filled for the Fort I walked down to find her, piled up in a mess of trees. For some reason I happened to look across the ravine and imagine my surprise to see an average sized buck feeding in a clearing less than 100 yards from where I just shot this doe I knew my buddy was coming down the valley and I hoped he would see the buck and shoot him. He never did see it. When he got to me and I told him where he was at, he told me that 2 years ago he shot a buck in the exact spot where I had seen this one. Kind of cool I thought. Anyway, I still have 2 more T-Zone tags to fill, so hopefully I can put a few more points on the board for us

Here is the tag. The tag is different due to it being a Fort McCoy issued bonus tag.
