Ok we are only 5 days away from the opener here in WI.I was out last week checking my stand,WOW!! looks like I-94 and 694 running by my stand. Its a great stand and I always have action du to the two and now 3 major trail juntions within 15 yards of me.I have hunted this from this stand (as well as others mixed in) for the last 7 years and know the deers habits as they travel down the trails near me.It is so much fun to see them comming and know where there are MOST likely to go as they approach my stand.I have 2 other stands that are newer ( 1 is 2 years and the other is 1 year old)I am going to put in a little more time on these stands this year. Its so hard when the deer are not traveling by I keep thinking surley I am missing out as I know the deer are traveling by ole trusty teddy. I am planning on sittting in trusty teddy in the am and them doing some scouting near my other 2 stands around mid morning. If I find a decent trail where I think I think I will I am planning on hanging a new stand and trying next weekend. I am so pumpmed this year it is awesome.I have the new sights on the bow and it is sighted in.I was grouping them well at 40 yards.I havent had to take a shot over 15 yards due to my great stand location but with my new stands I may have to take a poke out to 30-35 so I have been practicing out to 40-45 yards. No better feeling than having the confidence to shoot out aways and seeing the deer coming way inside the zone. The key is shoot, shoot, shoot.Broke down and got some new huning gear this year as in clothes so I am looking forward to trying that out as well, however I will still be packing my 10 year old homemade camo pants and pull over jacket my wife made way beack when, confidence in them I guess, I got a new scent lock hood/facemask this year I cant wait to slip it on and look for some deer coming down the highway.Ma I can’t wait. Friday night no sleep for me Sat up and at em bright and early.I like to get on stand at least 45 mins prior to sunrise, nothing better than watching the ball of fire poke out while sitting in a tree. Good luck to everyone.
