i have heard some not so good things about the bowtech line. but i have also heard some ok things about them also. i dont shoot one so it is just hearsay. the mathews switchback is a great bow. i just got a mathews outback and i love it. if you are looking to save a little bit of money i would personally go with the outback. to me there isnt a whole lot of differnce between the two. i guess i would try them both and see what one fits you best.

i know that mathews is an awsome brand that people have depended on for years but i was just curious at what some guys thought of bowtech i guess i have heard some guys that like it and some guys that don’t. but i havn’t heard from anyone that wouldn’t use a mathews. the reasson im looking at the switch back is because it is the newest and i think it will last me a long time. that is until next years models come out

    Hey Nick…
I have had a Mathew’s MQ1 for five years. The only thing I did with it was put on a new string.I love that bow! Now this spring I purchased a Mathew’s Switchback. The swithback is SSSOOO much smoother shooting than the MQ1, but my MQ1 is setup as a reliable backup.
I would recommend that you go to some achery shops and try out a few different brands of bows. Something I may find to suit me…. may not suit you. I believe most major bow companies ALL make quality equipment. My choices to try would be Hoyts, Mathews, Parker, Bowtech, PSE. I read an article in a major magazine a month ago about the best hunting bows made. They stated that Reflex bows made a bow that was around $300.00 that matched up with some of the best bows out there! Now If I could remember which bow it was?? I could find out if you are interested. Good luck with your search.
The most important factor is to get a bow that FITS you. Mainly draw length…. then you don’t need to shoot as many pounds as possible either!

i have a pse right now and i love it but i have heard some awsome things about the smothness and the speed of the switch back. i guess that almost everyone that i bow hunt with has a mathews and i havn’t heard one complaint about the bow just good things. although i no that there are some other nice brands out there. I just like going with a name that has been trusted for years and years in archery!

Zimmy, I believe the bow you are referring to from Reflex is the Buckskin. I’ve shot this bow and its counterpart from Hoyt, the UltraMag. Both give you the speed and forgiveness of the higher priced aluminum machined risers at half the price. Both have the cam and 1/2 and triax pockets. I liked the UltraMag a little better although the Buckskin has a higher IMO speed rating.

i shot the swithback and loved it when i went out to la crosse archery again on sunday. I also shot a bowtech that my neighbor is using but on the bow tech the string had quite a bit of string vibration after the shot. So i think i going with a switchback but i’ll be sure to shoot it a few more times and compare it to other bows

My first bow was a PSE Nova. That was a sweet bow and a deer killing machine . I was confident with that bow that any deer walked in under 25 yards I was sure I was going to harvest it. Every deer I shot with that bow (6), I had a clear pass through that left an easy tracking job. The farthest any of them went was about 80 yards. I kind of miss that bow .

I have not looked at the Switch back ( I shoot the Legacy), but toatlly rigged up with all the goodies (bow, sights, rest, arrows, quiver, stabalizer, silencers, etc.), you are looking most likely over $1000 !

I would suggest not shooting one until your ready to buy one

After adding sight, stabilizer, bow quiver and drop-away rest I have around $950.00 invested….
I still have my five year old MQ1 for a trusty backup too.
