On the way home last night after shooting the bow with Gutpile (nice meeting and shooting with ya Brian ). I stopped to check out a local spot to see if a few big boys were roaming the area and to my delight, I saw 2 shooter bucks with all their velvet shed off. These were the 2nd and 3rd bucks this year, that I have seen with no velvet on. I glassed a 135-140 inch eight pointer that was on the wood edge and trying to get a glimpse of a tall racked buck what I thought was a 5×5 buck that would score even better . Then I found out even though it appeared that the High Racked 5×5 was bigger, the wide rack 4×4 showed his donimance as he made a quick move towards the 5×5 that sent him running out of the woods with his tail tucked into the open and down into the pond. I guess the 5×5 was standing in his spot . I watched these two bucks until the light was gone and was late for Supper ! Luckily she understood when I got home and told her the story. She said she could tell I wasn’t lying since I was wound tighter than a top. She said I didn’t shut up for the first 15 minutes I came home . It is time boys and girls

I don’t deer hunt anymore after we sold most of our land. I still get exited about them though. I took the kids for their bike ride on Friday and we saw three bucks in the bunker park. Two small basket buck and a 5×5 that was around 140 class. All velvet free. The thing that got me was that 5×5 was with a doe and would NOT leave her alone, he had his nose right up her Way to early for that I am thinking.
Last night I was out running the dog and figured I might as well look for some deer on the way home. I scanned some fields only to see nothing but as I was driving slowly past one field some movement got my attemsion only to be a doe as I looked back to the road there was a hugh buck standing right in the middle of the road . He was a 6×6 and a true monster.

    Rob,
You are right if you are a bowhunter now is the time to get pumped up.

Sorry Spinner Dave didn’t mean to let you down. But, I probably get just as excited seeing Big Racks on Deer as I do, welll never mind

Hopefully she can make another appearance this Fall with either a Deer or Fish, but I have a feeling that she will have a little more clothing on due to the temps
