Ya we could possibly try that the only thing that makes me somewhat nervous is that if one team member sidapears from the forum or anything so we would need to stay in touch with our teamate if we did.

I agree with Wallerbass, the team thing would be a lot more fun and interesting. If you guys go to a team thing and need another hunter to balance the teams out I would be available to fill that spot. Otherwise I’m fine not participating.

    8.fh6002

    9.whitetails4ever

    10.ryana24

    11.Prieser

    12.Steve Plantz

    13.zimmy101

    14.mnz71hunt

    15.Red Rock Eyes

    16.mossydan

    17.Scott Steil

    18.gator hunter

    19.mwchiefs

    20.GMAN

21.trees lance???? (fh6002’s Son) Frank is this his user ID I do not see it in the User List. He needs to reply here to get in on the fun

I like the team idea but I would like to see at least 3 man teams so if we can get 3 more guys to jump in here we will go for it. I agree with Erick about not going with two man teams in case one guy would drop out or not participate then we would have someone without a team member. So let’s see if we can dig up at least 3 more guys.

If we get 18 guys we will go with 6 teams of three. I will check back here on Monday if we have the 18 guys Erick or I will draw for the teams, if someone gets a deer this weekend you can use it towards your team score with the proper documentation. If we do not have the 18 guys by Monday we will go with individuals. Please do not post any deer taken until Erick or I kick this off on Monday. Sunday midnight will be the deadline to sign up.

Steve, does this mean you can’t enter a buck if its not your first one? but can enter does. Open fore eigther shotgun, bow or blackpowder? i need a little more explaining, maybe ive been in the woods too long.

I just reread the rules and thats ok if its not your first buck but what if you can legally shoot 10 does like you can hear in the city limits of town. Thier letting more tags go for intown shooting and thier on a first come first buy basis. I can see this is a just for fun contest.

    Dan,

anyone can enter up to one buck and two does, the reason we do not allow any more than three is because in some states you are not allowed to take ten deer so that is why we limit it to three deer. For example in my hunting area I can only shoot 5 deer total, in your area you can shoot 10 so if we did not limit the number of deer you can enter into the contest you would have an unfair advantage over others who can not shoot ten deer in there state. As far as I can tell we have guys from three states in the contest, IA, WI, & MN. I am not familiar with all of the laws in WI and IA can anyone tell me are there any areas you hunt where you can not take three does? If everyone can take at least three does I would like to make one rule change and that would be that you can enter three does or one buck and two does. This would make it fair for the guys who practice QDM as they might not get a chance to shoot a buck that is up to there standards but would still be able to enter up to three deer (does) if they wish. So Dan are you in? If gutpile is in also that would make 18 guys with Lip Ripper in as well and we would have our 6 teams of thee guys each.

Hey Steve i see now, if a guy shoots three bucks, bow, shotgun and powder he can only enter one of them, i get it now. The other two are does only, that makes sense. Ya im in. Im going out tonight to check the local population and see whats new. To me this is all for fun and to tell the story of how it was gotten to a bunch of other good hunters too, sounds like fun, lets go for it! I want to know whos going to get lucky lol

Hey Steve i agree with the 3 deer change, its all for fun anyway and letting a young buck go buy and get 5 points for taking a doe is better than nothing. Maybe the taking of the third doe could be 5 points and every 25 pounds over 100 pounds it would be one point. In other words a doe of 2oo pounds would be 5 points for her entry and another 4 points for the extra 100 pounds the total of 9 points. If a guy takes a buck that has 10 points thats his ten scoring points right. If this buck is passed up because another shooter dosen’t want to take him he could possibly take a 200 pound doe for a 9 point score, thats fairly equal. He might not run into a 10 point buck but he might not run into a 200 pound doe eigther. Thats pretty fair when it comes to a shooter making his decesion to let it go or take it. If a guy dosent want a small 10 pointer because it would score low but would score 10 points on this scale here then maybe he could bring his score a little closer by taking a 200 pound doe of 9 points. Everybody could weight thier does as 1 point per 25 pounds over the 100 pound minimum. This is all just an idea but would make it a little more challanging if a guy shot a small forkhorn and two big does to catch up to the the guys who shot bigger racks, say a 14 pointer. I’ve seen 250 pound does walking the timber i hunt, that would make her 11 points. This might encouage some hunters to take a big doe that walks infront of him instead of a smaller buck and to let him grow until next year. Theres a little more incentive to take a bigger doe than to take a smaller 4 pointer. This is just an idea though and whatever you guys decide its ok with me as its all for fun anyway and food for the table.

Steve this is gutted weight and not on the hoof, a guy would have to show his weigh tag from the processor or a scale picture. This might be too complicated too, you guys decide.
