Ok, I’m in the market for a new rest and thought I had it figured out, now I’m not so sure. I like the Trophy Taker rests. Looking at the Shakey Hunter right now. But, I’m not sure of the style I want anymore. Trophy taker has a few trap door styles that are appelaing also. I have the original Trophy Taker on right now. I am left handed! Any help or peoples opinions are welcomed! Thanks!

I have used a few in the past and have liked the wisker bisket (sp) rests for the simple reason that I had an arrow slip and “clank” drawing on a deer once and decided that wasn’t going to happen again. has worked for me well so far, but have onle used it in practice this summer. I would like to hear some additional feedback from others as well.

jeff_hansenPosts: 475July 9, 2005 at 1:06 pm #8941I’ve shot the Trophy Ridge Drop Zone for about 2 years now… great rest, very quiet and reliable. I’ve also heard great things about the Muzzy Zero Effect
good luck in your quest…

July 9, 2005 at 2:55 pm #8942Well Rob… for years I shot a Golden Premiere, then the last two years I shot a bodoodle rest, but after I went to Mathews Bow’s website messageboard I realized that these drop-away rest were the cat’s meow! On that message board they had a topic on their favorite bow rest. Well the Trophy Taker line and the Muzzy Zero-Effect were the top two. I then decided to try one for myself. So I went to an archery shop to try one. (I’m also left-handed and was surprised they had a left-handed Trophy Taker Shakey Hunter)I had one put on my Mathews MQ-1. Well I absolutely LOVE it!
I have since then bought a new Switchback and I thought the dealer where I bought the Switchback would try and push on to me a new Mathews drop-away rest for over $100.00. Nope…he was a believer in the Trophy Taker also. So now I have two…one on my Switchback and one on my backup! (MQ-1)
They seem to be one of the cheaper fall-away rest…not alot of complicated parts…seems to be real reliable too. Believe me I have given them a good workout already.
A lot of people have Whisker Biscuits, but if you shoot a lot you will get feather wear and vanes will rip off also. The upside of the Whisker is the arrow will not fall off the rest while in the tree. Now as for the Muzzy Zero-Effect…I haven’t shot one. They look a little more complicated, but from the feedback I’ve read they are VERY reliable, but a little more expensive and they don’t all fit every different bow. Special one for Mathews bow I know for sure.
Good luck on your quest, Rob!
There are getting to be a lot more choices every year. I’m sure Fred Bear would just shake his head and just say we are ALL a bunch of whimps!

Later, ZimmyJuly 9, 2005 at 9:31 pm #8943Rob I have the Whisker Biscuit and I love it! The thing I like about it most is like Zimmy said your arrow will not fall off when you are in the tree.

July 11, 2005 at 1:45 pm #8954Thanks for all the input boys! I went and looked at them yesterday and I have zeroed it down to either a Trophy Taker Shakey Hunter or Trophy Ridge Drop Zone. Not sure yet! I need to get shooting my Legacy ASAP!
Zimmy is that Shakey Hunter quiet? The one I have (the original) on now, seems to make noise when the rest drops down. Even when you just pick it up by hand and let it go it makes a clicking sounds. It seems that it hits metal on metal. I tried to put some felt in there, but it doesn’t seem to help. The Drop Zone seems to be more quiet? Any thoughts anybody?
Thanks again!

July 14, 2005 at 12:53 pm #9012Corey,
on scond thought maybe I should just leave my bow aloneI picked it up last night and decided to shoot a few arrrows. I put out my new layered target (off brand)bought at Fleet Farm for $28.00 (Gret Deal). If you are looking for one for the truck this is an awesome size and deal. Anyways…. I get up on top of the porch roof where I simulate a treee stand shot. I have three arrows, shoot all 3, get down to retrieve my arrows (very nice tight group at 20 yards). It was a nice tight group cause I scored my first Robin Hood . The bad thing is is now I need to buy more arrows ! I have to think that she ishooting pretty good. It was like I was practicing all year .
Just kidding Corey, I will have it with me when I come down Sunday!!
I’m just pumped to hit the woods chasing those little sneaky things .

July 15, 2005 at 1:14 pm #9018Lip Ripper, have you shot any broadheads into that target yet? Wondering how it holds up. Sounds like a good deal, who makes it?

July 15, 2005 at 1:28 pm #9019No I have not shot broad heads into her. I just picked it up and thought I would try it out. It has orange layers with the black shrink/compression wrap on it. I figured for $28 why not give it a shot @ Fleet Farm. Even if it justs lasts me the year, I might get my money out of her. Feels like the same matrial, but orange instead of white?????
