Last fall I asked for some input on shooting with a release aid and got some great response from you all. Well after the season was over I bought a Little Goose release and have been making the switch over to shooting with it. Boy have I been missing out the last 14 years shooting with my fingers I can see a big improvement in consistancy. I havent shot at longer distances yet to see how it will be but I am expecting big improvements there. Anyways I just wanted to thank you all for your responses last fall. I cant wait for next deer season.

Jason, do you shoot 3-d’s. Talk to your local outdoors store and ask where the local hunting club is or if they have a book or any information on shoots near you. Its as close to the real thing as you can get to keep sharp for the season and its fun and challanging. You shoot groundhogs too elk decoys at these shoots at different yardages and some are very deceiving.

I shoot with a Scott’s” Little Goose’… absolutely love it!

I have just converted over to a “Trophy Taker’ drop away rest. The difference on shooting with one of these is something to encounter. Tight groups out past forty yards. I have been practicing bow hunting for tukeys from my Ameristep Penthouse blind lately. It’s a little different from tree stand shooting. oh yeah… Our turkeys are a little more plump around here!

I would like to get back into the 3D tournament thing. Does anyone have a schedule for the local 3d shoots in the Hudson, New Richmond and Praire Farm area?

My reliable Mathews MQ1 and my 3D setup! #50 to #60 #62 pounds maxed out … 27.5 inch Carbon Express CX 200 arrows and 87 grain target points … 315 grains total. 29 inch draw… very flat shooting and fun to shoot. I’m thinking about purchasing a new Mathews Switchback. Anyone on here have one?? Just Curious.

    Zimmy,
Is that just a stand that holds your bow in place?

Yeah.. it’s called the “Archery Stand-by” You can put either water or sand into the main body to be able to hold up your bow. Also a place for arrows and pop container. They are very popular at most archery shops. They work GreaT!!!

    Hey Zimmy,
Have been bowhunting for turkey’s very long. Just curious if you’ve had any luck? What broadheads do you use. I’m going to try and take one with a bow in Missouri this year.

Actually this is only my 2nd year trying this. I haven’t had enough patience before. after a couple days I would always break out the Browning BPS 12 gauge. I’m gonna try expandable this year. Most of the turkey bowhunters are using them. NAP has the Spitfire and a couple more. Rocket has a few others along with Wasp broadheads. I believe you need to get as much cutting diameter as possible. There is a new broadhead out just for turkeys called the Gobbler Guillitine… I have red different opinions on this thing. I’ve seen a video of it on a tame turkey…. It wasn’t PRETTY! Marty of Marty’s Archery Headquarters has taken many turkeys with a bow. i’m sure he could help you out also. GOOD LUCK! I know I’ll need it!
