I received this in an e-mail, I am not sure of its authintisty. Anyone else have anymore info?

    Quote:

Yes, this gigantic bull moose IS as big as he looks. Eric Arnette was
fortunate enough to bag this bull on Sept. 5th in the Kilbuck Mountains (400
miles west of Anchorage). First reports on this monster are that he is 75
inches wide, has 36 scoreable points, and could challenge the World’s Record
at more than 260 B&C! We’ll make sure and keep you posted. Stay tuned!

From Boone and Crockett Trophy Watch:

UPDATE: Eric’s great Alaska-Yukon moose has been officially scored at 236 B&C. Should the moose be accepted at that score upon review, it would stand at 118th on the all-time list. Greatest spread was 74 inches, with 12 points on each antler (not counting a total of four abnormal points.) Definitely a fantastic trophy!

It barely makes the top 120?

By chance would anyone have a link to a photo of a big moose? That thing looks like a draft horse with horns. I’d really like to see a BIG one.

I did a quick google check on record moose and didn’t find a good photo of the world record moose but did find some stats on the beats. 15 feet tall. Over 2300 lbs. Shot in Russia.

I don’t recall the bread of moose over in Russia, but they are monsters. I guess it’s one of the most expensive hunts also. I saw a show a couple years ago, it looked like one tough hunt. Cold, nasty conditions. Those animals have to be huge to survive in those type of conditions.

Our area taxidermist (Chuck Corcoran of Corcoran taxidermy) had a few friends go on a Russian bear hunt.

These bear were either a kodiak or griz……I’m not an expert……..However, these bear stood about 12′ if not taller. My father at 6’6″ could only touch the paws (the bears were mounted, standing up).

Anyways, the guides carried fully automatic machine guns. One of the bears was not fatally shot……..the bear charged the group of hunters and the guide machine gunned the bear down…… These are MASSIVE bears.
