I am looking to purchase a tree stand and was thinking I might be able to save a few dollars if I bought it this year yet. I was wondering if I could get some names of the ones you guys use and really like. two things it must have.

    1)It must be a climber.
    2) must be rated for at least 300lbs.

I have seen a few I liked in the cabelas magazine, but before I stick my money into I thought I would post the question. Any information like always is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

John, this is the one I have. I love it! It’s rated to 275lbs.

You can find out more about their line of products here.

I posted about this in the deer section back in october. I ended up buying a Lone Wolf Climber, it was the best built stand I looked at. Well worth the $349 price tag.

I have a warren and sweat brand climber and I love it. Its 26lbs. so its a little heavier than most but its sturdy. This is a stand with the belt that goes around the tree not a cable. They did a test its rated for 300lbs., they had 900lbs. on it and had no problem.
The bad thing is I think they went out of bussiness, but some one else must have bought there pat. cause I saw the same stand in GM and sportsmans warehouse this winter. I think avery might have bought it. Good luck.
A summit would also get my vote.

I would definitely recommend the Summit stands. They are rock solid, quiet setting up, and climb quick and easy. I have had several climbers, but always feel safe and comfortable in the Summit stands. One drawback is some are on the heavier side, but you have to sacrifice something I guess.

If you bowhunt I would highly recommend the Lonewolf stand. They are expensive, but are very light and easy to use. Also its a climber and will never get stolen. I have three friend that have lonewolf climbers and love them. I also have heard alot of people say they wish they had spent the extra money to get one.

Very very comfortable and they have an extra wide model that is for the larger man and is rated for 350lbs and only weighs 24lbs…….my vote goes to Ol’ Man!!

I wouldn’t recommend it for bowhunting but for gun hunting I love my Tree Longe. They make a standard size or an over size for larger hunters. Easy climbing and by far the most comfortable I’ve ever used, you can’t fall out of it! After seeing mine 5 of my buddies now hunt out of them. There are some good deals on e-bay right now.
