Sighting in a scope

I was wondering if anyone out there knew of a place that I could bring my rifle in to sight in the scope? I tried, unsucessfully, to do it a range yesterday, and I couldn’t even get on the paper. I need to do this ASAP, as the hunt opens on Saturday morning.
    Thanks,

If you can’t hit the paper, go and have it bore sighted. This will cost you a few bucks, but will save you a ton of ammo and time.

Then, you can go to a number of ranges and site it in with a few shots.

If you are new to the scope, talk to the guy bore sighting it and have him show you which way to make your adjustments and how many inches @ 100 yards per click with your scope. If you are 2 inches high and 3 inches to the right, it should take so many turns with each knob to put you there, and you should be on the money. This will save you a ton of ammo and time.

    Good luck!!!

THe other thing you can do is, get some kind of gun vise. Take the gun to the range and lock it down in the vise. Then at 25 yards, pull the bolt and look down the barrel and align it on the bullseye. Then, without moving the gun, look through the scope and try and align it to the bullseye as well. I did this just last week, and ended up 4 inches right and an inch high. I have used this method on all my rifles.

I have something called the gun buddy or something as a gun holder, I think I paid like 20 bucks for it at Fleet Farm.

Any ideas as to where to go in the Hudson/Somerset area to have a gun bore sighted?
    Thanks,

I bought it from a friend on-line here. I did just call the St Croix Outpost in Hudson, and they will do it. They figured about 20 bucks or so. I would easily have spent that much in ammo! I will still need to find a range to go shoot at some evening this week!

    Erick,
Thanks for the info. I just talked to someone in the Hudson store, and that will be a little more convenient for me as I drive through Hudson on my way home every night.
    Thanks,

The St Croix Outpost in Hudson charged me only $5.00 and it only took them about 5 minutes. Not even enough time to look at all of the guns and stuff!

Steve, not sure where you live, but if you are going/coming from Hudson, their is the Oakdale gun club. right off of 94. Here are the directions and phone #. I think its $20 a gun.

    Take I-94 to Woodbury.
    Exit County 19 (Keats Avenue).
Go 1 mile north on 19 to County 10 (10th Street).
Go east (right) on 10 about 200 yards. The club entrance is on the left (north) side of the road and clearly marked.
If you get lost, the clubhouse phone is 651-436-6946.

I was at Oakdale a couple weeks ago. I believe it was $15.

    Really nice facilities.
