I bought one of the first Scent Blocker suits made a few years back and I think it still works. Throw it in the dryer for 20 minutes and your good to go! Even if they claim to make you odorless I believe you need to do all the basics. Shower with scentfree soap before heading out and I take a small spray bottle with odor neutralizer in it and spray down before heading out. I even will spray my hat, head, gloves and arm pit area after arriving at my stand. Also I try and figure for the wind on all my stands, but as anyone who has hunted this bluff area knows the wind is always playing tricks on you.

Honestly, I think they are more hype than anything. I will admit to owning a scentlok suit so I did fall for it. I have shot deer with it and without the suit. I know this is going to sound cliche, but try and hunt the wind. I will not discredit or slam anyone for beleiving in them because we all have different opinions. If you think they work and it helps your confidence, then by all means go for it. I also agree with zimmy, you still need to be clean before going out even with a suit.

I’ll admit I have sentlok clothing that covers me from head to toe…But I was having some beverages with a guy who works for sentlok one night….and he explained to me that the clothing does work, but by the time the end user gets it all the activated carbon is used up and placing them in the dryer really doesn’t do much.
Funny what a person will tell you when they have had too much to drink

Well I agree with others prior, you need to do all the other things right. But I do believe in the scent suits. I actually layer a few different types of scent control clothing. I wear a moisture wicking and bacterial killing base layer, ( a Cabelas Product, a real thin silk like material)including socks and underwear. I then use Scent Lok’s base layer system (black in color). I will wear this after I shower and etc. Once I reach the field I will either go up wind of the truck or wait to I get near (150-200 yards) my set up (depending on temp and length of walk) and then throw on a Scent Blocker Plus Extreme Liner (100 grams of Carbon) then put on the Pro-Tec Fleece Outer shell for warmth and quietness. I wear a Scent Blocker Plus baseball cap with head cover, along with gloves. I also spray my rubber boots and all my gear with scent killing spray. All this is tired in a scent bag, different form the scent bag I use for my under clothes. Is all this overkill???? Not one bit! I know one thing is for sure, every year I become more cautious and particular about my scent control and every year I’m seeing more bucks and having more deer that get down wind of me, without getting busted. One day earlier this November I was in ND and I had 3 good bucks and 4 does that got downwind of me. Not a one seemed to pick me up. One was a 150 -160 class 5×5. Just the night before I had recharged my carbon suits. I dont think it was luck or confidence that kept those deer from scenting me. I try to sit in my stands with the correct winds and set up, but you never know sometimes. It is nice to have this insurance. Believe me the money I have invested in Scent Control Clothing has paid dividens in my mind.
I have always done all the clothing, body washing, scent control but I would still at times get busted or at least the deer would act a little goofy. Since I have started to really wear this carbon clothing and pay extra attention to the little details of wearing them have I become way more successful fooling them sharp noses. I think of it just like fishing, to have it all work and be more successful, you must pay attention to all the little details. For those of you that have seen the buck I had harvested last year with my bow. Not only was he down wind when I shot him so was the 5 does he was checking out. It’s not only the bucks you need to fool, its also the does. I have seen it time and time again and also have heard first hand, how a doe was acting spooky and a mature buck that was coming in just turns around and leaves they way he came in. This doe might not have any reason to be spooky or edgey, but the Mature ones don’t care. That is the reason they are as big as they are . I can’t speak a ton for Scent Lok, but I’m sure they are similar. Without a doubt Scent Blocker Plus and Robinson Labatories products has helped me see, encounter and harvest more deer. They are also a MN based company. I think they are out of Cannon Falls????? Just my 2 cents worth for what I have experienced.

Right on Zimmy!
With the bucks you posted here you know exactly what I’m talking about ! Do you need these clothes to harvest big bucks??? NO, no you don’t! But it sure helps your odds of bagging a Hogg. Anyway I can increase my odds of getting close to deer, I’m definitely looking into it! !

I do not use Scent Lock, I prefer to layer my clothes. Layering your clothes will really cut down on your scent. As lip ripper said, play the wind in your favor. It does not always work but helps tremdously. I also do not discredit scent lock, I believe doing what you can to cut down your scent helps.
HOWEVER: You take all the time to eliminate your body scent, shower with scent free soap, shampoo, spray scent eliminator, put on your carbon/scent free suit, spray more scent eliminator, the whole nine yards….Then you crawl up in your stand and can taste that pizza you had last night in your mouth Believe me, your breath will give you away long before your body scent will!
