Buck at Lunch

I went home for lunch today and as I was chewin’ on a sandwich I do a double take as I glance in my neighbor’s back yard…an 8 ptr is bedded in their spirea, right next to their patio and just munchin’ away. Not unusual? It is when you live across the highway from St Mary’s hospital in Rochester (I know this doesn’t mean much to most of you, but my point is we are really in the city). We see a lot of does and fawns, but not bucks and not at noon.

He sat there while the garbage man made his way around the block with all his bangin’ and beepin’. I walked into my yard and got within about 10 yards of this guy and he just sat there…staring. I went back around the house, figuring he would leave, cam around the other side of my house and he was still there. Walked up to him again and he still didn’t move.

And yes, he was not thinking with his head…his neck was very swollen.
