Last night B.C. and I went up to his cabin in Black River Falls area to check things out, look for signs of deer and maybe throw out some lb’s of corn

We were working the middle part of a ridge area when we heard some crashing through thick pines…We thought nothing really other than we had probably spooked some does…We sat there in silence for a few minutes…

As we were standing there we still heard some rustling going on…We knew it was a deer walking and it sounded like he was coming right for us We spotted the legs coming from about 35 yrds so we just stood there….

Sure as sh*t, a very big bodied 4pt walks out in front of us..12 yds away. He finally looked up at us and bolted (we stuck out like sore bass thumbs). But the whole experience was awesome!!

needless to say, we threw some corn down there and will have a stand there on friday We also have the trail cam setup, so hopefully we’ll get some good pics as well!!

Good story Slop. That reminds me of a time when a buddy and myself were duck hunting a pond. My buddy walked around the pond to retrieve a duck. The side of the pond he walked around has a large steep hill the comes to the pond. Where the bottom of the hill stops there is a flat area about 20 feet wide the creates an natural walk way around the pond between the pond and the hill. So as my buddy is coming back to the blind he ecounters a 6 point buck head on and the buck was not stopping and I do not even think the buck saw my buddy. Well as the buck approched closer and not stopping my buddy took a defensive stance with his gun in fron of him because he thought the buck was going to run into him. It was quite a sight. At the last moment about 15 feet away the buck stopped and they stared at eachother for what seemed like forever. Then the buck ran up the hill and around my buddy. Sometimes I see deer do strange things and wonder if there sences, sight and sound, are as good people make them to be.

Anyway, is it legal to bait deer in WI?

We are hunting in Jackson county, which allows baiting.. Check page 16-17 in the Hunting regs booklet for full details, they are quite long.

I was was walking up a picked cornfield toward a wooded point off a main ridge lookin for turkeys the day after the ’91 halloween snowstorm,when a basket rack came runnin right at me from the point.Abought 5 yards away he finaly spotted me,trotted a half cirle around me,while I’m talkin to him,and then ran toward another point.I seen more movement from where he came from,and there was a big buck with 2 smaller bucks and a coupla does runnin around on the side of the point.The big boy was chasin the other 2 bucks all over the place.the show lasted quite awile before the does took off and they all followed.Shoulda had a bow instead of a gun
