The farms I hunt in WI have some big Poplar(sp?) trees on it. Most of them will allow you to go as high as you want. My highest was over 30ft.(It was marked by my wife’s uncle) That was almost too much for me. There’s no way I’d do that w/ a stiff wind.

I also think tv cameras have the ability to ‘distort’ the perspective of things. Look how big a football field looks on tv.

With a climbing stand I like to get at least 20 ft. in the air. I’ve been told that above 22 ft. most of your scent rises.

About 8 feet. For the most part if you are still, the deer will just think you are a squirrel or bird and not pay much attention. That’s if they even look up at you. The only ones I’ve had look up are when I do something stupid and make a noise.

Otherwise, ya just gotta make sure you keep the stink down!

I put my stand as high as my arms reach! Thats plenty for me, and I have shot deer directly below me too!

Where I hunt the limit is about 9 or 10 feet. If you get any higher than that, you can’t see anything except the tops of the bushes and small trees. It’s really thick.

Depends on if I am bow hunting or shot gun hunting. My bow stands are about 20ft High.
I use a Tree Lounge for shot gun hunting and I have been as high as 30 to 35ft, I feel very comfortable and safe that high with the Tree Lounge, I would not feel safe that high with a regular stand.
