My 3B season opened at 6:48 on Sat., and was over at 7:19.

Unforunately, the camera didn’t make it out hunting that morning,(digitals and moisture don’t mix well) but I got this shot when I got home.

    10 points, 18.5″ spread.

There’s a 14 with 2 drop tines running around where I hunt, but he didn’t show himself this morning. I couldn’t pass this one up in hopes of getting the BIG BOY!

I’m undecided about doing a full mount. Its a nice buck, but I’m not sure if it’s good enough for a full chest mount. I will at least hang the rack on the wall though.

What do you guys think? Yes or no?

JLDII-Nice buck with some character . As far as mounting him, only you can say what is right . Personally, I think it is a very respectable buck. Sure, we would all like to get a 180 class buck and put on the wall, but it just doesn’t happen very often . If you look at the buck I posted a couple posts above yours, he is going on the wall. He is not a monster, probably scores around 120″, maybe. I also have two of my buddies mounts on my wall along with my 154″ 8 pointer. He used to always compare his to mine and I chewed him out . It doesn’t matter whose is bigger or if someone else approves. His deer had a reason behind them and I told him that is all that matters. In fact his 10 pointer is 13 1/2″ inches inside with maybe 6″ tines, basically a basket rack. I look at that buck the same as I look at mine, beautiful animals and works of art by the taxidermists. Now the long wait until I get this years back . Go with your true feelings, they are very rarely wrong

    From the Outdoor News
MINNESOTA MOOSE. Jim Gordon, of Spicer, arrowed this bull moose while bowhunting near Finland, Minn. on Oct. 12. The rack had a 501/2-inch spread.

A distant cousin of mine got this bruiser last weekend in central SD. He also got a large 3×4 mule buck that morning archery hunting. This is his first year of hunting, so I guess he is pretty much ruined now. His dad is having both deer mounted.

He shot the deer running, one shot in the neck. Unfortunately he broke off the right tine in the fall.

Yep, but don’t tell him that!
Way Cool. That is the right way to start a long life of hunting memories.

Can they give an offical score if the main beam broke into two pieces? (Note the tape on the right main beam)

I hope for the kids sake they can. That is one heck of an awsome buck. Makes me want to go back and delete the photo of my little 10 pointer.

The ranch where he was shot is where I do most of my hunting back home. The last two years, the whitetails have been nothing short of awesome for this area. It has a high rate of poaching because of several factors, which I choose not to get in to.

My cousin said him and 5 others sat and watched this guy chase does for quite some time from a distance of about 500 yards. They thought he as a good buck, but not this good. My cousin is a trophy hunter, I can’t remember the last time he shot a deer. He says to me, “When I was taping the horn back on for pictures, I realized just how big this thing was. I guess maybe I should have looked at him a little closer.” This was the same comment others in the group made.

As for scoring, I’m not sure it can be legally scored for B/C, but who cares. I guess when his dad dropped him off at school on Monday morning, he dashed for the school to start telling stories. How cool is that??

I’ll get the score when/if it gets done though.

I doubt it can be officially scored, I’m just curious…even a rough green score would be cool. That thing is huge!!!

After seeing that picture, I told my cousin, I’m coming hunting next fall!!! I guess they have a couple deer running around there that put this guy to shame. I wanna see those.
