Got this guy at 7:45AM this morning 8 points maybe 9, has one small point on his right side, I am not sure if that counts as a point or not but I will find out when I get him scored. Either way he is going on the wall!!
My 9 year old daughter Emily took this pic and the next one below, way to go Emily

    GREAT JOB, PAUL!
LOOK AT THAT NECK! These bucks around here are just amazing weight wise. Can’t figure out why either??? There nothing out there for them to feed on is there?

What did you get for an inside spread on the hog? Looks pretty even all around also. Do you bowhunt around here Paul, or up north?
I’m STILL sore from getting mine out and I HAD HELP!
    Once again… Great Job!

    Zimmy,
Nope, not much for the deer to feed on but twigs and pine needles . The Lumbar region of my back is still a little tight…..fortunately most of the drag was downhill. Even tougher was skinning it out, had to solicite the wife for help. The buck was shot in Pierce County WI near River Falls. The spread was 19″ inside but the longest tine length was only 7″. Generally I have my deer mounted in Stanly WI, but opted for a Taxidermist closer….. after asking around and looking at his work I decided on B.J.’s Taxidermy in Ellsworth. Zimmy, since your from the area, do you know much about him or his work? I did discuss with him that I would like to have the neck and shoulder look as big as possible to retain his actual look as seen in the pic. Some Taxidermist will opt for a smaller form so they don’t have to stretch the hide as much.
Thanks and good luck gun hunting!!!!!

B.J.Taxidermy is Bing Hines from the east side of Ellsworth. Bing did a turkey mount back in 1994 for me. WOW… it’s been 10 years already! The turkey STILL looks the same as the day I got it from Bing. My neighbor has all his work done by Bing. I just got an updated tour of the mounts just Friday afternoon. Two shoulder mounted caribous, one full size bear, a shoulder mounted 6 x 6 bull elk and that was just one room. Many people I know have had deer dome by Bing. He does great work.
I actually called Bing about my deer, but no one was home. I had thought my Uncle had quit doing deer and I knew he quit doing fish, but I gave him a call to see on my deer. He just does deer now I guess. He even gave me a reduced price for his favorite nephew.

I know what you mean by the neck size issue. I had the same thing with my deer back in 1999. The taxidermist had to order a special mold from Iowa to fit that buck. He was 33 inches around at the middle of the neck. I told them the same thing… I want the deer to look like he did when I shot him. Some people say thart with the smaller body the horns look bigger. I, myself justr love a big body deer! Not a TEXAS lookin deer!

Good luck gun hunting yourself, Paul.

I will be hunting bucks up north for the first time ever. I’m taking my nephew out for his first buck hunting season.
    I don’t even own a rifle!

That is a great lookin deer.
At lunchtime today at work, Greg and I exchanged hunting stories, John. I got to see pictures of the buck in the back of the truck. I like this picture better though.

I asked Greg if he had to drag the deer to the truck very far? He said he drove the truck out the deer at the edge of the field. He said he had to get your Dad to help him load it in the truck though!

I was really happy for him when I heard the news. He has had a rough year, I think it was a gift from his wife

I was happy too, John …..and I’m positive Carol had something to do with it. It hit my Dad real hard when Carol passed away.
I’m positive my sis had something to do with my deer also!

When Greg was showing the pictures of his buck at work…. in the pictures he was standing by the truck with the deer and a coffee mug in his hand. He made sure everyone knew that was coffee in the mug! I got a chuckle out of that!
