Well, come on all you archery hunters, how was the weekend? I know it was hot and windy, but did you see any animals? My neighbor saw the bruiser again, but not close enough for a shot.

3 Fawns Saturday AM.
A doe and 3 fawns on Saturday evening, a 1 1/2 old 6 pt and a 4 1/2 year old half rack. It had a massive 4 on one side and a spike on the other . I had both the 6 and half rack inside 10 yards but they were not the ones I am looking for. If the half rack would have had a matching side it would have been a short season!
To windy for me on Sunday, I worked on the food plots until the tire fell off the tractor

September 20, 2004 at 5:37 pm #3435I got out early saturday before running to Cold Spring for Dmans wedding. Only saw a doe and a fawn go by. Man it’s thick and green in the swamp!
Hopefully again this week. Man this is killing me, cuts into my fishing time!
Oh like I have it so rough!

September 20, 2004 at 5:48 pm #3436Only hunted Saturday a.m. due to other commitments. Saw 3 does, 13 wood docks, and 2 beavers. No good shots.
Just got permission to hunt some private land that has a 14 pointer runnin’ around. Need to scout that area soon.

September 21, 2004 at 3:17 am #3452I saw a bunch of deer on Saturday AM and PM, but none close enough for a shot. Got a little bit lazy when the Sunday morning alarm clock went off and I hit the snooze a few too many times. Sunday night was HOT!!. I figured i would go and sit on the edge of a pond, and it payed off. About half an hour before dark a big doe walked out 30 yards broadside, so I used my management tag on a 150# dressed doe. Not a bad weekend for me, and i still have my buck tag to wait for the big boy.

September 21, 2004 at 3:44 am #3455Passed up 2 forkies and a fair 8 pointer, I’m still questioning myself on the 8, trying to get in the management mode and pass up the smaller bucks, but he was a nice 8 just not quite big enough though maybe, maybe I should have, nah. Wished I’d had the camera, we pulled off an awesome stalk on him and a forkie while they were feeding along the edge of a crp field. Gotta bring the cam next time! Between my brother-in-law and myself we saw 6 bucks Saturday morning, the 8 pointer being the largest.

September 21, 2004 at 4:19 am #3456It takes a lot of self controll to pass up a nice 8 pointer, good job Dave
If he makes it through the season this year he will be a wall hanger next year!September 21, 2004 at 4:19 am #321902It takes a lot of self controll to pass up a nice 8 pointer, good job Dave
