Portable Climbing stand?

As I am getting to old to screw tree climbers in anymore, I was wondering what others think or know about the various Climbing stands. The last couple years I’ve resorted to carrying a cordless drill with to drill pilot holes for the tree climbers when not able to use a climber.
My sons been away at college so i’ve been able to use his climber. The problem is, they don’t make that unit anymore, a very well built stand.
I weigh about 225 lbs. so I want something sturdy, any suggestions?

I only use it for bow hunting so take that into consideration. I’ve looked at the tree lounge but it’s doesn’t seem real user friendly for bow hunting.

Is there much to the setup once at the tree.
The one my son has takes about 3-5 mins. to setup ready to climb.

I have the basic Tree Lounge for gun hunting, it is 18.6 pounds. I do not have the bow hunting adapter, I know a guy who has one and he loves it, although I have not seen the bow hunting platform, I am not sold on it. For bow hunting I have stands that I leave in the woods, I am not in the stand all day when I bow hunt so I do not need the comfort as much as I do when I gun hunt. So far I have been lucky and not had any of them stolen. Do not get me wrong I love my Tree Lounge for gun hunting, 18.6 pounds does not sound like much weight but when you add all the other gear you bring along it all adds up. I use the Tree Lounge when I am going to be in the tree all day, so the little extra work involved with it (mostly hauling it with you) is worth it to me as the Tree Lounge is very sturdy and very comfortable and easy to climb with. I use a Ol Man Ciimber and I have to say for the money (I think they are down to $169.00) they are extremely comfortable, sturdy, and I like how it kind of wraps (secures) you in there, for the long days in the stand (taking naps ) . I’m not sure on the weight thing. I think mine holds 250lbs???.Nice mesh seat is very comfortable and fairly easy to set up. I would practice it a few times for it is a little more difficult in the dark.

I’m like Steve, I usually do not spend all day in the stand (unless during the pre rut & rut). I usually have fixed position stands in the woods and leave them there, but understand this is not feasable for all locations. So when I do use my climber, I do not mind spending all day in the Ol’Man.

I have also used a Lone Wolf and I think there awesome, lightweight, sturdy, etc, but @ $315-330, I will stick with almost half the cost and the Ol’ Man.

Those are the only 2 brands I have any climber experience with, so that is my $.02. I have heard API makes a great climber also. I had just purchased my first API fixed position stand and I am pretty impressed with it so far.

Have that kid of yours hang all your stands before he leaves for school!

I also have a lonewolf climbing treestand. I believe it is the best treestand out there. My brother and one of my friends have one and they also love it. You probably could find a more comfortable climbing stand, but you cant find a stand more quiet, lightweight, and it takes me about a minute put it on the tree. I highly recommend a lonewolf stand.
