Who’s going and where to? Looks warm on Sat/Sun and then a big change coming on Monday, with temps in the 30’s all next week.

I’ll be in the Chippewa National Forest on Sat, Sun, and Mon and then on private land in zone 225 on Tues – Sat.

    Good luck, and stay safe.

This will be the 2nd year In a row that I’m going to skip it. This was after about 40 years of not missing one. To be honest in not all that upset about it. I thought as it got closer this year I may be but I’m not. I’m going to be hunting Wisc. For the first time this year and am excited about that. I also plan to hunt all three weekends of muzzleloader this year here in Minnesota.

Good luck to everyone out there this weekend. Be safe and shoot straight. Remember “aim small miss small “

This will be my third year I have not really gone hunting, what I have done is get my license. As I am working around the farm just keep an eye out incase that one comes around. As I have gotten older I have lost that killing instinct I had when I was younger.

I’ll be out. I’ve only missed two openers since starting to hunt deer at 16 and both of those missed weekends were a long long time ago. I’ve been climbing the mountain for over 30 years.

I’ll be out in my camo undies which is about all I’ll need in the warm weather. Sounds windy though and it’s still a bit chilly right as the sun is coming up and going down.
Haven’t missed a year since I was 12. 45 years. I didn’t get out 1 day bow hunting this year with other stuff going on.
Not thrilled about shooting anything as warm as it’s going be the 1st weekend. I can wait to shoot some does later in the week when it’s cooler.
If a big fella shows up, warm or not, he’s mine!
    Good luck and stay safe!

This year is just a mess for me.. 2 months ago, my box stand got blown down after 10 years in the heavy winds on east side of MilleLacs at my grandparent’s house. Lumber is WAY too expensive to rebuild this year so, I setup a ground blind on the other end of the powerline I look down, 280yds north of where my old stand stood.

Now, as of last weekend, Covid has wreaked havoc up in that area. Bars are shut down, Grandparents have been exposed & just got tested yesterday. Hoping the results come back negative but not too sure they will. My grandpa had been showing symptoms all last week.

My cousin & I are not too sure what our plan is. We can go there and hunt but we are not planning on staying at the house, like we usually would. With the way the temps are going to be, might be a brown & down kind of weekend for me. Shoot a deer early & get it to the meat locker.

Few years ago when it was warm like this, it was difficult to find a locker willing to take more deer. Luckily we have a few options if need be.

Good luck to all & post some pics of those Monsters!

Was going to go up north, but the dam COVID bit, so I’m hunting by myself in the southern metro zone. I’ll be on public land I’ve hunted for years, and will get out tomorrow to do a bit of scouting.

Good luck all and stay safe

I’ll be hunting up by Mille Lacs this year on my brother’s land. This is the first year he’s owned the land and we have plenty of deer on cam, so we should get some shots.

Although I really wish I could legally hunt these 2 guys hanging around my backyard.

Our group will be up near Sandstone 159. We will be missing 3 guys, 2 not coming due to Covid scare and one just got into a motorcycle accident. Agree brown and down pack with ice and get it in asap.

I’ll be hunting the firearms season for the first time in 5 or 6 years. Past few I’ve only hunted the muzzleloader season. I’ll hunt my land in 275 saturday through monday. If I don’t get a decent buck, I’ll hunt my buddy’s farm in 276 on tuesday and shoot a doe.

I’ll be slathering on the sunscreen, putting on my camo shorts, and setting up my lawnchair. I’m in 159, same place I’ve been for over 30 years.

I HATE hunting in warm weather. I’ve never had good luck, seems to me with the pressure in 159, the deer just crawl in the bunker and since they don’t have to eat, they just don’t move. We get a few fawns in the fields, but mature deer get the message pretty quickly and then starting Saturday afternoon, we’ll see nothing.

I’m predicting a very tough hunt this weekend. As always, we could get lucky and have the neighbors kick one too us while all 10 of them get on their own ATV and drive the long 162 yards to and fron their stands, but overall I’m not optimistic.

Hitting the road early tomorrow for a full week off! Super excited but not overly confident. Not a lot of sign in our area but it only takes one!

I now catch walleyes, where I used to shoot deer, but still some high ground left, hard to believe it was bone dry in ’93!!
