Deer dragging and lifting

Out of necessity, I devised this pulley system to drag a deer out of the brush and help lift it into the ATV box. I tie the loose end to a deer and the deer to the other. My wife moves the ATV ahead to pull it into the bed with minor lifting on my part. A ramp or board would help if alone. I hope this idea helps someone. (probably not a new idea tho).

I put something similar to this on my fathers Kawasaki Mule but with an electric winch https://www.amazon.com/HME-Products-Truck-Hitch-Hoist/dp/B06ZZS6M9L/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=deer+hoist&qid=1636841062&sr=8-3

You do have to wrap the cable around the middle of the deer so that it will be higher than the tailgate when raised.

I ran heavy gauge wire from the battery to the back and mounted a trolling motor outlet there and I even put a 50 amp fuse on it.

I have loaded some big deer in my old Mule 610 but I might need some help now that I have the Pro MX as it is higher off the ground

We also use a receiver hitch mounted gambrel/hoist such as the one in the link above. It works great for either the back of the truck or the utv. Once the hoist is supporting the weight of the deer, it’s an easy one-person lift to swing the head around to drop it into the bed.

Next level = gutting the deer while suspended from the hoist. Lift it up, gut it out, swing it into the truck. No sore knees and back. Let gravity be your friend!
