I’m an avid whitetail bow hunter and I’m debating making a purchase on a deer decoy I’m looking for honest hunters feedback on there success with them buck or doe decoys what brand etc. I’m looking at a few that can be used as a buck or doe depending on time of the season. I love rattling and grunting bucks in and I think it would be really nice to get the attn off of me in the stand when get in range and applying to all 3 senses of the deer smell sight sound instead of just 2. Please give me any feedback on your experience and suggestions of a brand or if you’ve had bad luck let’s hear why. Thanks in advance

My two cents worth: I used one few years ago and had a crazy night with it. Just before dark a couple of smaller bucks came in and were checking it out from a distance, then I had a nice 2 yr old 8 come in and would not leave the decoy’s side. We had a tarsal gland from a recently killed buck that we hung off the back end and it worked. Didn’t plow it over but would not leave. I was trying to spook it away after dark and began throwing stuff at it and he wouldn’t leave. I threw my rattling antlers at the thing and it didn’t phase him. I got all the way down and had to wave my arms in the air at 15 yards to get him to leave. That being said, I think it’s like turkey hunting, if the timing is right they will come in to check it out. If they’re not in the mood or have been in too many fights, they may turn and go the other way. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it pre-rut but when things start getting cranked up either get rid of it or take the antlers off. getting it in and out where I was hunting was a pain, if you have easy access I would say give it a whirl.
