legally or theoretically? I’m in MN and I’m pretty sure both are ok here looking at some blinds i’ve seen. They even advertise some portable fish houses to be used as both.

yes, you can. there is a requirement that you must display 144 sq. in. of blaze orange on each side of the ground blind.

Copy & pasted form WI DNR:
During any gun or muzzleloader deer season, ground blinds (except waterfowl blinds) on DNR owned or managed lands must have a minimum of 144 square inches of solid blaze orange material visible from all directions.

But what about PRIVATE land? I’m sure he is using the fishhouse on private land.

No requirement for the blaze orange on private land.

Aren’t private lands managed by the DNR? I’m not talking private game preserve, but farmland that falls under DNR regs? I hope they are not using their vague wording as a loophole. We were checked out by DNR on a private farm last year, but we didn’t have ground blinds up so it was not an issue.

CRC – I own land in WI – It is PRIVATE. I also have land in WI that is Forestry, and has involvement in the state with Managing – IT IS PRIVATE. My neighbor has a private farm that he has entered portions of in for the TAX BREAK under the ACCESS program – that is PUBLIC

Public = 144sqinch visible in all direction blaze orange on your blind

    Private – no orange requirement

If in doubt or not sure, add the orange and you have nothing to be concerned about

DNR – Can go anywhere, at anytime. They are above the law when it comes to access on anyone’s land. Don’t believe them, ask’m.
