Just saw that this apparatus earned some award at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas; never heard of it before. The company appears to be out of Lithuania, with US office in Tampa.

Sonar is usually only as good as the power of the transducer. That unit being rated to only 130 feet makes me think that it is a “catch the fisherman” gadget.
It’s interesting in that I think this is the future direction for a lot of sonars–separating the screen/processor unit to use the technology we already own on smartphones or tablets.
But the price is too high for the functionality IMO. This needs to be a $99 device, not a $200+ device.
This would be a terrific deal for fly in fishing and any fishing where weight and space are at a premium.
