Looking for a line to use in 40′ of water. While using regular 4# mono I can’t seem to feel the bite and way too much stretch for a good hookset. Any suggestions on a line to use that won’t freeze up and retain water when fishing outside a shelter in very cold conditions? Looking for something in the 2-4 pound range. Thanks.

Try Nanofil. It holds less water than braid and is a very, very sensitive line when fishing deeper water.

x2 on the nano. Recently fished whitefish in 70 ft of water , was still able to feel the bites. I use it on my summer rods also.

Did you fish with it outside a shelter and in cold weather 20 degrees or less? Thanks.

I have and side by side with braid. The braid caused way more icing issues and the Nano was every bit as sensitive as the braid.

If you can find it Asso “Heavy Ice” flourocarbon. Sinks fast no coiling mininmul stretch and strong and thin for a 4# test. Comes in chartruce or bronze. The website I buy mine was sold out of the chartruce so I settled for the bronze. With my eyes the bronze is a pain to tie but I wouldn’t replace it for another brand.

    Fluorocarbon or coated lines.

ASSO micron 4# is same thickness as Pline Floroice 3#. I use both and they’re great.

In shack I will do Braid lines.

I found it and ordered it. Was hoping it would be here before we left on our trip up to Nisswa. Doesn’t look like it will be here in time. Does cabelas or Gander mountain carry Nano line? Thanks.

riverruns, did you ever pick up some nanofil before your trip? How did it work the rest of the ice season? I used it for the first time this season lake trout fishing and was really happy

I ended up using the Asso Ice Heavy in 3# test. I used it on Gull Lake in 60 feet of water and I really liked it. Although I did not catch any fish up there on it. It did get my smaller jig down quick with no memory to the line. I have been using it shallow water around on the river and it works fine here as well. No complaints from me using this line.
