    Hey Guys,

Looking for your top “go-to” deep water cranks. Brand/Model and if you want to throw color pattern in, that’s fine too. Looking for overall success, not specific pattern success.

I’m trying to put together a deep water crank selection for walleyes.

    Thanks!

Hands down the Deep tail dancer in size 11. Hot flash is my go to color, but blue flash and purpledecent are a close 2nd and 3rd.

I used the TailDancer Deep (TDD-11) out on Lake of the Woods for a week, then decided to go even bigger to the Bandit Deep Walleye. I love the bandits! Produced bigger fish and out performed my Tail Dancers.

But you can’t go wrong with a Tail Dancer or the Bandits for deep water.

The big Smithwick 20’s were good as well.

Mille Lacs the Salmo Freediver has been good. I can’t wait for the Freediver 20 to hit the shelves.

Tail Dancer Deep 11’s and Custom Painted Bandit Deep Walleye are my choice when not using any added weights to go deeper than the 20’s.

Depending on where you are trolling, don’t overlook the shallower areas too. # 5 to #9 flicker shads have produced lunkers for me as well!

These are kinda off the wall ideas, not your typical walleye gear, but my go to lures are the Megabass “Deep six” and the Duo Realis “G87 20A”
Yes, I know they are expensive. But they just plain get bit. Every color those lures come in are incredible. Just depends on the lake, and what you are trying to mimic. Im sure the cheaper options work just as good, but these work for me.

I just picked a couple of these up on a whim, excited to try on the St Croix tomorrow. Purple and Clown. That lip is gonzo.

On one side of the boat on straight braid I’ll run Tail Dancers, big Reef Runners, and Flicker Minnows down in the 18-25 range.

On the other side I’ll pull Jointed Rapalas, Jointed Shad Raps, and original floaters in sizes 9-13. The big J13’s can get pretty deep with a manageable amount of lead out.

Kwikfish K14 was very good for me this year. They don’t get down to 30′ unless you use lead, but man that action really got some bigguns fired up this summer.

Curious if anyone has tried the “new” Berkley Dredger series. Shad profile hardbait with a weighted bill. The largest size trolls to 26 feet. Seems marketed toward bass anglers but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for walleyes. Not cheap at $9 a crack.

I’ll add a crank to the list that after doing some research is worth trying out. If anyone has experience with them, please let me know.

Salmo FreeDiver. Dives to 29 ft going 2 mph on 6 lb braid, according to their site.

I’ve had great luck with the Salmo Hornets size 5 floating, trolling for crappies. This past weekend a buddy and I went out and caught 16 of them, trolling in 14-18 ft of water. Crank ran about 10ish ft. With that said, I’m willing to try Salmo FreeDivers.

Reef Runner 800 series for me. Can be a pain in the butt to tune, but nothing has been for us.
