Anyone know what deck Sealer lasts the longest, or actually lasts a full year possibly? I’ve used Thompson water seal for the last couple times, but not impressed with it at all.

I would look at a penetrating oil sealer, like sikens,Cabot’s.

Nothing lasts on horizontal surfaces in MN, nothing.

I got tired of sealing the deck and replaced it with Trex Transcend myself. More time to fish now! I did some LED accent lights in the post caps and the risers, very low maintenance, this new stuff can handle pressure washing cleanings much better.

Norsky that deck is nice, I like it. Those post cap lights are really nice. Who ever built my composit deck when with white hand rails and I want to get rid of them and go black. And I want those light caps

I’ve liked this Rymar sealer better than Thompson. But I haven’t used anything else for 25 years so my comparison might be out of date as maybe Thompson’s is different now.

Ready Seal is my go to and what used when I ran a deck refinishing company.

I have similar solar light caps they are easy to install and look nice especially at night.

Yeah where did those lights come from? I need decent lighting on my deck and everything Ive purchased has not fit the bill. I want ones that stay on all night and the ones I ended up getting said they were dawn to dusk, but they are motion sensing and the others dont put out much light at all that do stay on.

I used olympic on my deck two years ago and it’s holding up well. Prep work on the wood and a liberal application goes a long way. I bought and used about 30% more than the sqft rating. Deckboards are thirsty.

    ^Exactly.

If you have a deck and take into account the price of traditional lumber, then factor in the cost of stain, sealer, and your labor time for prep and everything else at even $20 an hour for maintenance….you are not that far off the cost of the low-mid tier maintenance free decking in a hurry.

I’ll never stain, sand, pressure wash, or seal another deck.

I use the Behr Deckplus transparent waterproofing wood finish with good results. Once this wood is torch its going to trex tho

I just purchased some Cabot sealer from Menards, was -$10 off a gallon so I’ll give it a try.
