    Lake of the Woods

Wigwam Resort on Lake of the Woods…your destination for Year-Round outdoor enthusiasts. Lake of the Woods is an extraordinary body of water with over 65,000 miles of shoreline and over 14,000 islands. The Wigwam Resort is located 12 miles north of Baudette, MN (Walleye Capital of the World) and is in (arguably) the best position to access both Lake of the Woods and Rainy River. We cater to groups of up to 100. We will customize a package for you with a meeting facility, hunting, fishing, or what ever you need. Groups of 24 or more are eligible for group discounts or other incentives. As you navigate through our site, if you don’t see something you would like, please give us a call at (800) 448-9260 and one of our helpful staff members will accommodate you.

Welcome to another edition of the Wigwam Monthly Newsletter. Thanks again to everyone that paid us a visit in April…we hope everyone had a fabulous and successful time searching for your respective trophies. We had an unbelievable month of fishing while our guests were searching for the Rainy Rivers, Four Mile Bays and Lake of the Woods most prized possessions, our world class Walleye and Prehistoric Dinosaurs, the Sturgeon. We want to give a special thanks to all the members of Fishing Minnesota and In Depth Outdoors, who both allowed the Wigwam to be called their Headquarters for their 2010 Sturgeon Excursions. We are expecting the fantastic fishing to continue into May and beyond as we look to go after those “World Class Walleyes” starting May 15. The Wigwam guest list is growing each and everyday, and that should steadily increase now that we’re getting closer to the opener. Walleyes will start to enter our dreams once again. Thanks again to everyone, and remember, because of your support, April was another awesome month on Lake of the Woods.

As of today, we can all feel very fortunate that we aren’t experiencing the devastation that our brothers and sisters are experiencing down south, all along the Gulf of Mexico. Our thoughts and prayers are going out to everyone in the region; we wish you all the best.

Welcome to May! The Walleye Opener (May 15, 2010) is right around the corner, and everyone’s getting “Walleye Fever” around the Wigwam Resort. The Walleyes have just about finished their yearly spawn in the Rainy River, after which they will make there way out to Four Mile Bay and Lake of the Woods to chow down on those shiners…hopefully to do a little “beefing” up. We plan to be there to help feed them, hopefully right next to you. With beautiful weather and Walleyes galore, who wouldn’t want to be here? Right now we are just starting to get some rain, which is helping green up the area and raise the water level, and both are welcomed all around Lake of the Woods County.

As summer approaches, the Walleye Capitol of the World blossoms into a beautiful wonderland, filled with a multitude of colors and bountiful wildlife. We feel blessed to have this all in our backyard, and hopefully many of you will get the opportunity to experience it first hand this summer with us. After saying that, we know that most people are feeling the economic crunch this summer and may not have what they’re used to, dollar wise to play with, but I want to remind all of you that we do have Campgrounds and an RV Park.

Both our Campground and RV Park have access to a free dock slip and a restroom/shower facility. I remember when I was kid; my Mom and Dad always took our family to Red Gut Bay on Rainy Lake every summer to stay in our family’s pop-up camper. I remember it as vividly today, as if it were yesterday, and it was awesome. It gave my family an excellent opportunity to bond, communicate, grow and share together. These days families just don’t have the opportunity to sit down and have the discussions families once did. Hopefully thinking about this may fill your minds with great memories from your childhood, and now might be your chance to do this with your own family. We would love to help you make this a fantastic experience that you and your family will remember for a lifetime. We are also giving Kid Discounts this summer to help Moms and Dads make this a reality…hope to see you all here!

I just wanted to make this announcement; the Wigwam Resort is thrilled to be working with one of the gentleman pictured above whom is willing to come in and give some Walleye Fishing Seminars this summer, only at the Wigwam Resort. I’ll give you a little hint, he’s a longtime friend of Tom Briggs and he’s known to millions as “Mr. Walleye”. That’s right, you guessed it, it’s Gary Roach. Gary is looking to help more Walleye enthusiast learn the secrets, which have led him to a lifetime of successful fishing trips, one right after the other. As soon as we get the dates finalized, I’ll put it in the Blog at wigwamresortlow.blogspot.com and on the website at http://www.wigwamresortlow.com. I’ll be there, paying very close attention and learning everything I can. Hope all of you can make it also.

In this paragraph I want to talk about something that I talk about every edition, Full Service – No Hassle. The reason I do, is because it’s what either makes or breaks a great trip. There is no substitute for going out fishing in the right accommodations on Lake of the Woods, which is arguably the best Walleye fishing in the WORLD. We offer guided launch trips in our 27’ Sportcraft(s), where we provide everything, and when I say everything, I mean everything (poles, bait, tackle, fish cleaning and fish packaging for your trip home). The Wigwam Resort has assembled a fantastic “customer service oriented” staff and we are ready to make your next vacation exactly that, a vacation. We have made some improvements for our guest’s entertainment by adding a few more televisions in our lobby and bar. We want to make sure you don’t miss the big game, whatever it might be. Come try us out the next time you visit Lake of the Woods. Also, don’t forget about letting us cook your “catch of the day”…it doesn’t get any better than that!

f you have been a guest at the Wigwam Resort and I didn’t get a chance to get your fish picture(s), please e-mail it to me at [email protected]. Please put a little description of the catch and the size, and I’ll put it on the photo gallery and also on the TV’s that constantly rotate pictures at the resort.
