Uh, thanks for the call….
I texted you a selfie of me holding the gun and wearing nothing but a coyote fur g-string. Don’t tell me I sent that to the wrong number?
Actually, I didn’t call you because I didn’t want you burning up any more of the global supply of Varget than you already are.
Me, me, me. It’s all about me.

The girls and I are headed there this afternoon possibly. They need to get out of the house and Dad needs a sanity check after the last couple days. One never knows what he might run into.

Was that just a weekend sale? I always need new rifles
Sorry, I didn’t save the flyer, so I can’t tell you.
It would be worth a call to the nearest Cabela’s branch to find out. That is the cheapest I have ever seen the stainless version of the Axis.
Of course, you’ll also want to have them check and make sure the caliber you want is in stock.
Very tough deal to pass up.

Well, as usual, a day late and a dollar short. The price went up to $279 which in itself didn’t scare me away. The only problem the Rodgers store only had one .270 left. Probably should have bought it, but I couldn’t talk myself into that caliber.
I also looked at the CVA muzzleloader I’ve been eyeing. I really like how it fits me. Again, a day late. The price went up significantly overnight. Oh well, I’ll hold off hoping for another clearance sale.

I got the last .22-250 they had. praire du chen had a lot of different calibers when I called.
Like I needed another 250, but hey. A stainless with my Boyds would look SWEET!.
What kind of groups are you guys getting with these rifles? stock vs aftermarket enhancements?
I haven’t had a chance to put the 250 on the bench since adding the Boyds. However, after adding the Rifle Basix trigger to a stock rifle, I shot one group one time, all 3 bullets touching. My groups are sub 1″ at 100 yards consistently. Most days my rifle outperforms my abilities.

As you can see from my article on this site, I shot a group with my Axis using the factory trigger and factory ammo that was just barely over 1 inch.
BTW, to me a group is a group of 5, which is a much more reliable measure of overall accuracy than a group of 3. It’s easy to luck out and get one group that’s very tight, but a 5 shot group hides no flaws.
With handloads and the fully adjustable Rifle Basix adjustable trigger ($89 including shipping), it shoot under an inch all the time at 100. I have not shot it with the Boyds stock yet, but I don’t look for big improvements from the stock.
Out at 250, it’s still a golfball sized group of 5. The .223 is obviously impacted by wind rather harshly at distances beyond 300, so I’ve never been on the range when it’s calm enough to really get a sense for it’s performance at 300 and 400 when it’s not impacted by wind. I can tell you that even with the wind in the equation, at 300 many prarie dogs found out that they were too close for their own safety.
I’ll post a full report when I shoot the .22-250. I just ordered bases and I’m wasting no time, I also ordered a Rifle Basix trigger. I will need to spend some time looking at scopes as my temporary test scope is on loan.
