Minneapolis, MN – Even if you can’t make it to this year’s “Great Minnesota Get-Together” (Aug. 25 – Sept. 5, 2011), it’s still possible to check out what has become the Fair’s coolest, and most popular attraction—the Minnesota State Fair Fish Pond—online.
Thanks to a high-resolution color VS825SD underwater video camera, provided by Minneapolis-based Marcum Technologies, fish lovers can still view over 20 different species swimming around on their computer screen.
Go to “Live Fish Cam” and spot some of the pond’s colorful characters.
Among them are eight original inhabitants—25 to 30 pound paddlefish that have visited the pond every year since 1984. Or find the 40-plus year old lake sturgeon, now close to 60-pounds. And if you’re watching at just the right moment, you might even spot a blue sucker—one of the rarest fish in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. There’s even one very “Lucky” ornamental goldfish, a 5-pound albino koi that sees with a single eye, having perhaps narrowly escaped an encounter with the bald eagle living in the tree above its home.
