I seen a episode last winter and James was dead sticking I believe he had a spinning reel that would just click when fish was on dead stick…does any one know what brand reel he was using?

Saw the same episode, and I love the one-two punch method of active jigging and smaller artificial lure (small jig, plain hook with sinker, etc) but using a full minnow. I purchased two sizes of those okuma reels for a dead stick and a iFish pro. Check on okuma’s website to get the right size though. The nice part about the reels is that it has a separate drag system on the bottom of the reel specifically for your bait when it’s switched on. Have a good season!

They work great for Catfishing too.

The reel is a bit on the heavy side. Ordered mine the other week so no on water experience. Just a little surprised at the size and weight. Looks like a few of us will have this setup to start the season wave

Shimano Made Baitrunners (150, 250 and 300) back in the 1980’s.
They still make smaller baitrunners (DL2500FA and ST2500FA) but only available across the pond. Mine came from The Tackle Box in the UK.

I bought one of those bait feeders last year after watching the IDO episode on LBDN. I fish that body of water. I have yet to use it yet. It does seem pretty big. I would rather jig with 2 rods and have one tipup setup. impulse buy on my part. I am planning on setting it up this year.

Okuma! I have this reel on my deadstick and it’s the best reel for the application. Only got to use it a few times as I got it late in the year last year. Yes, it is heavier than your normal reel but it’s worth it.
